Also this, everyone who has a house has relo'd on someone else because they've had it done to them and no one will put someone else before them when it comes to housing/a plot they want.

OP, welcome back to the game! Sorry for that, but housing is in a really funky spot at the moment. As others said, Endwalker should help with Island Sanctuary (assuming rumors are true), and if not, there is an entirely new housing district coming in Ishgard…so have hope and keep your chin up!
This.
Everyone has the same right to a plot whether they are relocating, buying for the first time or buying for a fc. It doesn't matter if you camped for 20 hours or someone got it straight away everyone has the same right to that plot. Yes it's annoying when it gets swiped but like someone else said you shouldn't be camping for 20 hours.

sorry for off topic, but i do not feel like making spanking new thread for this:
if there is anyone with experience, how much harder is it to get house on NA dc vs EU dc currently?
obviously the system is exactly the same, but i guess i am thinking of the competition, possible bullying happening to the lucky winner, do you even see flee plots daily
the last and only NA house I owned and bought was in 3.3, it was one of those new plots and relatively easy to acquire despite being medium, world was leviathan
since coming to EU dc i've had quite few house, both private and FC, and of all sizes. i've grandfathered private houses on two characters on one server only, no idea if i am part of the problem and kinda don't really care.
my experience on EU dc is kinda like this: sometimes, quite often actually, you can spot +half dozen people clicking away, but often people just click for like 10 minutes before leaving. i am absolutely sure that insane clicking marathons happen here too, but the ease at which people come and go makes me feel strangely hopeful, as in i am happy that these people are not ruining their day and health for this nonsense. i won my newest plot vs bot, so that seems to happen, no big surprise there. guess i am also curious of any anecdotal accounts about how common you think that the botting is?

Honestly, with all of the other issues involved in housing acquisition, the relocation issue seems to be one of the biggest. It makes the timer kind of pointless. It encourages people to just buy a house, any house, so they can move for free later on. It screws over people who are willing/able to put in the time and effort to try to get a specific plot. With the incoming lottery system, I do wonder how this is going to change relocation protocol. Surely they're not going to allow someone to reloc and kill a running lottery draw so maybe we'll be seeing a suspension of the free relocation policy in as a whole. Frankly, in my eyes, this would be a good thing.

Its pretty even right now I would think with the new boom in the playerbase across all the DCs in terms of difficulty acquiring housing. I remember JP being empty for a long time with houses sitting everywhere and now they're packed to my knowledge.
Medium plots popping in NA are rare-ish and usually gone within 5m of them going up by a relocation. Larges are unicorns and gone in less time.
Bots are basically the norm in NA as well. Every house has at least a handful there.

I have no data to backup but I would imagine its on par, seeing both DC is nearly full, some servers will have it worse than others.sorry for off topic, but i do not feel like making spanking new thread for this:

Atomos used to have at least a couple plots across the wards available at all times. These days, they're all taken with only one or two plots opening up every couple days. If anyone's thinking about rolling on a JP server thinking they'll have a better chance at getting a house, don't. Your chances are equally good/bad on NA vs. JP.
Relocation should not have priority. Ever. You want the plot you wait with everyone else.
I recently moved my fc house one plot over for the better view, so I pointed the people camping there just down the road. It was then however taken by someone who had been loitering by the place I just moved to, I guess they were busy getting their gil or something and I swooped in while they were away. Because they took my plot when they got back. They came from mist so a plot opened up over there. I felt bad to be resting timers for people but I also cannot help how the system is I am just working in it and I wanted a better spot. My fc house is a small, it started in goblet that I grabbed instantly one very early morning, I then straight away went to the lavender beds where I was keeping an eye on another plot and relocated there, then relocated to kugane when I spotted a place and now most recently moved one plot along. It's one heck of a gil sink I'll say that much..
