    Meh.
I really wish they could ask for anything other than dps rotations. Yoshida's stance for healers has been very clear to us for a very long time. There are other aspects which affects healing gameplay too, yet people keep asking for dps rotations which will always lead to a big NO from the developers.

I think players would be interested in trying that out for sure.
Which players would that be? The ones that asked for more interesting DPS spells? If you add passive healing to glare spam, it makes the spam even more prominent not less. If the barrier attack is not dps positive it adds nothing to situations where no healing is needed, which is where the glare spam is the most boring. The answer looks straight sadistic if he meant those players: "you dont like spamming glare? might you be interested in this new job where can spam glare harder" >_<
Unless he meant some other players, who... would like to spam glare but were afraid of missing on healing? I can see how those would find sage interesting, yes. ^^

Honestly, the way Sage has been promoted as a "techincal healer" for more experienced players with a focus on Damage, it could be the healer to have had a DPS rotation. But no, it's still a one button spam fest with the occasional Assize thrown in.

Did... did you not watch the interviews?

They also said they're not substantially increasing heal requirements. People haven't been asking for DPS funtimes only.

There are other great suggestions which does not involve dps rotations nor higher healing requirements, such as utility spells, traits that interact with existing offensive spells , etc

In this particular interview with MTQ, he did hover around a willingness to make fights more intense for healers. He mentioned he is aware that when content is first released, things are more spicy, and as players get stronger and better at encounters, healing requirements fall off. The impression I got is he is willing to at least try to keep things at 'release day' difficulty. I'm not sure how they would do it. They could ilv sync everything outside the hardest content, but a lot of players would strongly dislike that, so I don't know. We're just going to have to wait and see.

As for DPS fun times only. I guess go and play a DPS job? It's looking pretty doubtful that DPSing as a healer will satiate that thirst.

It might be doable with stat squish. If stats don't rise that high, then damage from increasing ilvl would be relatively the same with a bit of falloff, but there will certainly be improvements since ilvl works in a fourfold manner - HP/Damage/Defense/healing output. It's just not as noticeable as we have now where we would just overpower old content.

It's a tough one and kinda why I've been on the side of "more DPS" options, as it seems the easiest option as it'll provide relief for those moments. If they pull it off with the higher healing requirement whilst keeping it accessible somehow whilst being engaging for medium to higher skilled players then great, I'll support that.

I feel like a suitable iLevel cap would help, but I know this is conversation I've been on in these forums before and it comes with its own problems, such as the reward of getting better gear. But maybe they can make the improvements gear brings less significant. I think it's a tough one to suss.

Personally I'd have just gone with the route of:
Make SCH, WHM and AST have a better downtime then a new 4th healer have a strong but very basic damage kit and try to best adjust the stats they can for more healing and design fight encounters for it.

But it's a bit late for that now.

I'm not sure whose comment you were trying to respond to with this remark, but the vast majority of the healer's ability usage in the game is, and will remain barring an overhaul, to deal damage. It's not that people asked for that or want more of it; it's just the way the game has always been designed. Players just want it to be more engaging.

Well, we've been told at the start of Shadowbringers that things would hit harder as well and... you saw how that ended up going. So I don't blame people for not believing this time around would be different.

Still, doesn't really fix the fact that the rest of the game that you encounter into roulette, helping friends, etc, will stay untouched most likely and keep up with the snooze fest.
