Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

Bumping because we were on page 17, we should never be that far from anyone's thoughts ^_^

Also, would it be fair to say Viera and Hrothgar should at least be given all the artifact headgears from previous and going forward...I feel odd not having my feathered red mage hats.

Eh the threads have served their overall purpose.
Viera are 100% in the game now (well once Endwalker drops)
And Hrothgar Females are "Announced" to be in development so overall the main point is done.

And who knows with headgear. The Reaper Hat fits a Hrothgar, so it could be a vague hint that more head cold be getting worked on.

"Through great effort, we’re making changes to the current Hrothgar system, and while I can’t say the variety will increase, it won’t be limited to 'one face pattern, one hairstyle'; instead, we’re working on having one face pattern able to support multiple hairstyles."

"Additional new hairstyles for Viera are in the next round of adjustments, and will be available from the launch time of 6.0. Hrothgar will take more time, so they’ll be available from 6.1."

"In any case, because the character team is graciously continuing to work on these two races for us, and because they’re also preparing for the increases in gear and hairstyles, please wait a little longer."

It's about time! I'm glad they are finally looking into these issues. Looking forward to further updates for the limited races, for sure.

This really shouldn't have been an issue from the beginning, but it is what it is. I'm glad they are finally addressing the issues.

I'll be interested to see what the fix looks like. From how the current system appears to work, it seems like they'd have to either sacrifice something (like fur patterns being independent of hairstyle) or create a whole new category in the character template, which could mean improvements for other races as well – say, body tattoos as a new category with Hrothgar fur patterns using that system instead of currently using the hairstyle slot. But that seems less likely and I wouldn't get my hopes up on it.

If they're wedging it into the current template, the least-sacrificial approach might be that the hairstyle menu is a weird thing with five copies of each hairstyle, each with a different fur pattern tied to it.

The devs know there are limited options as well....this has already been addressed, and they said they will be making new and Unique styles for the 2 races. And Im sure, with more hair options in the works, so is a solution to change hair without RL money.

Im sure they will my man. Once they make more options, I know they will also work on giving the Hrothgar (and viera I guess) ways to get Haircuts/Change their Hair/Manes without spending $10 IRL.

and to say "about time" isn't really fair considering how rough it was post ShB for dev team and it was not just talking about covid

Or, worst case scenario, they're opening up all Hrothgar hairstyles regardless of face in character creation but you'll still need a Fantasia after that.

But I don't know if I'd count that as "through great effort", so hopefully it's not just that.
