    I like the ward system

Call me crazy, but I really do like the current housing district/ward system. While I don't see many people in them on my server, just knowing that each house is owned by someone else makes it feel like a neighborhood. Coming from LOTRO, where IMO, they did instanced neighborhoods right, I still get a greater sense of community in this game than I did in that one.

Perhaps is the housing density and the fact that we can go inside our neighbors' homes, but something about the neighborhoods still feels alive even when empty of other players.

I wish they could get their situation straightened out enough to provide an opportunity for every player to have a house of their own in a neighborhood soon.

and then you realize that most of those houses are owned by the same person using multiple characters and you see how short sighted the housing system was hundreds of lots are taken by this housing mafias robbing people of the chance to own a house of their own Yoshi P's own failure to address this only compound this problems honestly they should not have been allowed to keep their exstra houses with the rule change they should have had to pick one and the rest of their house lots would have been refunded at their original value

don't get me wrong though I have no rat in this race I own a house my self after a lot of effort to gain one I'm simply expressing my sympathy for the people who still can't get one because of this selfish people

We could go into neighbor homes in LotRO just as we can here. It was up to the owner to decide if they wanted their house open to visitors.

The wards here feel more alive than the neighborhoods there because their decorating system sucked. Smaller item limits and items could only be placed on preset hooks which gave everything a generic feel. Housing was bland and boring so few players actively participated. People were more likely to get a house just for the shared storage chest with their alts than because they cared about the house.

Not everyone wants to live in a dense neighborhood, especially when that means having to stare at a Paissa house with a yard full of Namazu effigies (not me thankfully but it's happened to a friend). Many prefer to have a quiet place to themselves without neighbors. Some of those wards owned only by one or two players have nothing to do with running shell FCs for workshops and everything to do with wanting a quiet place without obnoxious houses and neighbors next door.

I think the game has room for both wards and instanced housing, but they need to give instanced housing a lot more love. Give instanced housing some major upgrades and you'd see a lot of players moving out of the wards, opening up plots for those who actually want to be in a neighborhood.

I agree 100% with what you've said; especially about LOTRO's low item count and Paissa (etc) house designs. Your last line is a great idea.

I think the ward system is fine. But new wards need to spin up when they full and I would to see a small redesign that allows each spot to grow to large size once you can afford it.

Ok, I Have no idea what I would think if I had not found success in the current system, but my very best guess would be that my opinion would not be all that different.
I haven't met person who could not arrive into some sort of satisfactory conclusion with ward system, once they decide to try get place to make into their own, smaller or larger, corner. It might not come in form of a dream plot on first try, but those who handle house acquisition and upkeep as continuous process (instead of one do and done thing), and are willing to put some time and planning into it--- call me bonkers but those kind of fellow players do seem to end up with something in the end instead of nothing, more often than not, in the end.

Part of the problem for some isn’t the desire or drive to make something of it, but the lack of opportunity. Couple that when it does arrive and your playtimE is limited you often lose out due to the timer.

On my server every available plot is swarmed by players, no matter the hour of the day. So being persistant or not won’t change anything : chances are very slim and will be even more slim with lotteries.

It’s a bad system no matter how I look at it, and it’s even more frustrating when you see guys with shell FCs owning multiple plots while people are fighting nonstop for a single plot.
