House sharing

Why do you even listen to snowflakes who pretend the house is theirs?
If I would be able to share my FC with another FC... I'd make a rule where both FC's get to decorate a part of the house and then have the entire community vote on our idea's before we make them reality.
There are ways of finding eachother if only you try.. but even then... if you start to get bossy about how the owner made their house look... why would they even share it with you in the first place?

I'm fairly certain no one would share with anyone unless they are certain those people "respect" what isn't theirs.

I've made a similar suggestion earlier but decided to simplify it to persuade people to share their house.
That way more housing should become available since a shared effort, is an effortless one.

Private housing:
Right now you can share your house with 3 other people. Enhance this to 9 people.
(Make it so that your house is also automatically shared with all your alt characters)

Free company housing:
Allow Free companies to share their houses with up to 2 other Fc's (so 3 in total).

Add Loft apartments (and possibly 2 & 3 story apartments):
Add apartments that have a main and first floor that are bigger then a small house.

Add an alternative access point for the workshop (grand company?): That way players can use the workshop without the need of an FC house.
That way the benefit of abusing a house for personal gain would dissapear and people would stop making fake FC's to get access to a workshop.

I believe these changes will lessen demand on housing by up to 10-30% in the next few months which would make a huge difference with minimal effort.

Very sound ideas! Tho I doubt being a tenant is what most people want, coz it wouldn't actually be theirs!

That rarely works in real life, what makes you think an MMO would be any different hehe. It wouldn't.

I've seen this tried, and it all goes well and good until someone in one of the FCs decides that you're going to be the pink moogle house and decorates the exterior and interior accordingly. Unless you can create rules that are enforced by the game code for who can decorate what, this will never work.

Then you run into the issue where you get a decoration mismatch so its clear which area belongs to what FC.

I mean, there's always this pie in the sky hopium filled dream, but the reality is that it's not going to work or be as pretty as you think it is and will often cause more problems and generate more support tickets which is going to make SE reticent to try it.

I think it can be done if SE allows you to assign people ownership of a floor in the building.

That rarely works in real life, what makes you think an MMO would be any different hehe. It wouldn't.

MMO isn't real life... its fantasy/imagination made into a virtual fact... so whats wrong with using my imagination just like they did before me? People don't seem to hate theirs, but they scream about the errors that were made. I don't think fixing those problems can be THAT bad can it?

I don't think anyone needs to be reminded that mixing communities without a set of rules will always result into chaos. You'd have to be pretty naive or stupid to try something like this without them. In your case I'm going to assume you were simply ignorant since you don't sound like that today. People are like that.. the more errors they make, the higher the chance they'll start to understand the way of things. Nevertheless if SE granted an option allowing you to choose which floor people are allowed to decorate... it can still be acceptable. If you assigned someone the basement and they made it pink while the rest of the house is blue.... since its 2 separate parts that you can't see next to eachother... it will be acceptable.
