I've been saying for years we need this. It honestly feels a bit disjointed with the overall game design that you can't do it already.

Leveling multiple jobs to unlock glamours for everything just makes sense in a game where one character can be every class/job.

wow don't let you transmog gear you cannot use (like a mage in heavy armor) so why would FF 14 do it :P
heck you can't even collect the appearance of gear you cannot use in the wardrobe if your not on that class

Why would WoW be the measure for what we CAN'T do here? I mean, their system as a whole is imo far better than FF14's to begin with, purely because they actually have a glamour log at all. But. Y'know. I also wanted WoW to ease up more on their requirements pretty much from the time they added transmog, and was always glad when they did (and they have improved it over the years).

I don't play WoW anymore, but I am still a fan of having more options for my fictional dress up characters.

Especially when wow is so stingy that you can't even wear/transmog holiday items when it's not that specific time of the year, hell it has even items you simply cannot transmog. FFXIV's system is way better in every regard except space for glams.

This suggestion would mainly give existing gear a new lease on life, so it's not like they're mutually exclusive. So ideally yeah, they'd keep adding the occasional Glamour set, regardless

when it comes to tank and dps gear I think that depends on what dps you are

For example dragoon/Samurai rlly should get some tank glamor the reason being is there theme is honestly more tanky than how the warrior is and honestly id agrue that Sam/dragoon is more tanky than warrior theme wise. In other ffs I dont think I've ever used warrior as a tank (are characters that would be a warrior for those without jobs) i've honestly used characters like Samurai and dragoon as tanks more than "warrior in final fantasy games" reason being is warrior is honestly more of a berserk/dpser thats one thing i find weird on here that its a tank.

for healer to tank I can only see one reasoning in this White mage and paladin should rlly be the only one with that option tbh same for dps and tank as well Black mage and drk would also make sense

Now rdm should get up to a point of all glamor at max 80 it should get level 40 glamor's from all jobs outside caster but no higher until it gets higher level so 90-50 etc


now for dps gear to tanks I think this should only be for warriors and maybe gunbreaker users

ps I think ive honestly used Monk to tank more than warrior now I think about it in ff games lol (like even in ff7 Tifa is a strong tank when used right)

I honestly think the issue isn't the gear not suiting a job thats the issue

its when that job could have fallen into that role but didn't for whatever reasoning (many dps mele jobs) outside ninja could honestly be tanks so i have no issue with them getting tank gear unless they ninja

dancer could have been healer so no issue with them getting healer gear

warrior could been dps (again no issue here)

my issue is when something clearly what it is like summoner/sch wanting the gear from tank /mele dps (now summoner and sch itself should share caster/healer gear

WoW’s justification for this is rapidly thinning much like it already has here. There are cosmetic sets like heritage armor or the Stormwind guard armor that completely defy any notion of “armor weight” as far as locking your character to cloth, leather, mail, or plate aesthetics.

Spending a little time with games like City of Heroes really reinforces my existing support for this idea. Nobody cares what your character is wearing over there. Your “gear” is comparable to materia, invisible doodads that you slot into your abilities to improve their effectiveness. “Endgame gear” does the exact same thing, but adds set bonuses.

Just let people wear whatever armor they want. If we have to level up other jobs to unlock their glamour options, fine. Keep artifact armor sets completely locked if you want. I really don’t think people would use them anyway since they have a very specific style.

Other MMOs like The Elder Scrolls Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic allow players to use any sort of equipment they want regardless of their class. I wish this was something SE stuck by despite the clipping issues.

They should also fix the awful dungeon drops, because come on... it's ridiculous.

Equipment is set up in a way that I think most of it shouldn't even clip that much even if meant for different Jobs e.g. gloves either go under sleeves, over sleeves below or above elbow etc. You may noticed long "gloves" where the arm is bare straight up remove the sleeves off of most chest pieces regardless of Job

... not to mention, as has been discussed in this thread previously, you can try out any combination you like without issues (in most cases)... but only in the Glamour dresser window
