Why is everyone assuming Huton has a new activation instead of assuming they done a mudra combo before we got the part where they showed the recording lol. I mean we can't even see the buffs on the character... Maybe I am missing something, but to me it just seems like they pressed record just as he hit the ability, I mean you do have like 5 seconds to press the button after you do your combination.

Because the LL mentioned a new, easier means of activation.

The skill that triggers Huton has its own button judging from Yoshi P's NIN hotbars during the demonstration of the new ground target settings, as does one of the new lightning abilities they showed off.

I guess the new huton action is for the times, where the boss jumps and your huton falls off. Since you cant hide, you have to spent a ninjutsu to get huton up again but now you can just use the new action and keep your ninjutsu.
Also I think its on the GCD, since it gives 5 Ninki like spinning edge, gust slash and throwing dagger.

Ninja already has a lot of buttons. Instead of just making it easier to get they should just make it a trait like they did with GL, Blood of the Dragon, and Enochian.

What's the point of even having the mudra system if you don't need to use it to activate their abilities?

There's nothing really wrong with huton-activation. My only problem with the mudras are hyoton and suiton, because by themselves they're rather useless, but they give you access to more powerful abilities.

Hyoton is like a "Flee" ability for ninjas ... I personally use it when I get aggro'd in the open world like Eureka, Bozja and probably will alot through the EW MSQ , they won't get rid of it , not everything is there to maximize your damage . Suiton is still a 600 potency attack + 300/500/1000 depending on what follow up is used , I would hardly call it useless even by self

Useless is probably the wrong word. I guess what I mean is, they share utility/function with other abilities, if you ignore the other abilities they give you access to, such as Trick Attack.

I am just kinda baffled by the removal of Shadow Fang, why was that necessary?...

If anything I think they should've removed the CD on it and just made it a 100% uptime dot.
Downtime on NIN is already really slow and dull.
