Imagine being a casual, and you end up being more toxic and elitist than HC raiders lul
Another casual more toxic/elitist than HC raider (wtf)Wow.. again? Geez, I can't escape this topic of an argument anymore. It keeps popping up everywhere, and at risk of sounding like a broken record; I'll give my two cents.
If a tank is pulling single pulls and are not using their AoE rotation on top of it; they are not performing their role properly. Period. This is excusable in the beginning three dungeons where they are learning; and I recommend to everyone to point this out and tell them to use their AoE on groups of mobs, then encourage them after the first three dungeons to start pulling more. This is the only way they're going to learn how to improve, if they don't step out of their comfort zone of pulling single groups or are unable to, then give them the recommendation to run dungeons with squadrons/trusts or their FC or friends. Wasting a group's time is not cool, nor is it good to not say anything when there is an opportunity to give advice to improve another player's performance when they are doing poorly in group content.
Now, if they respond with getting angry or telling someone that they "don't pay their sub", either votekick or leave. It's that simple. No one is required to put up with a pace that they do not want to deal with, and vice versa.
Regardless, tanks by a certain point in game, especially around 61 - 80 should be pulling two packs at once and be able to use their defensive cooldowns. If they are still not doing so and are still doing their single target combo, then they are doing their role poorly and it isn't acceptable since they aren't putting the effort in to learn. Which again, votekick or leave if you ask them or advise them to change and they don't take it. You should be competent enough by Stormblood, all of the "training wheels" must come off by then since they're going to reach the current expansion content afterward where not a lot of people have the patience to deal with it. Better to improve earlier on than to have a major problem once you reach endgame.
Just let people play the game the way they want

Tank sets the pace for the run.
Period.

I did say vice versa in the middle... did you not read that? In a scenario that a tank is undergeared for a dungeon and the DPS and the healers pull ahead and the tank actively tries to tell the group to not pull since they know they can't handle it, the tank can remove themselves from the situation entirely since no one needs to have to put up with that. And I only expect the bare minimum. I don't expect people to have the top damage in dungeons, I don't care if a DPS mess up their rotation occasionally. No one is perfect 100% of the time, but I do expect some competency by the time you hit the later expansions. ARR and Heavensward are the learning areas, while Stormblood leading into Shadowbringers is where you should start to get more comfortable with your chosen job/role. Those are entirely fair expectations, and believe me I strive to be fair to both sides. If a healer is being a general pain in the butt, I'll call it out, and if a tank is being the same I will call that out too.
If players want to play at their own pace I gave the simple advice of going into dungeons with squadrons/trusts or your FC and friends. That is playing the game how they want. They can go at their own pace, with their friends or NPCs and clear dungeon content that way so that they can learn at a pace that's more comfortable for them without the stress of other player's expectations. That isn't an unreasonable suggestion, nor is expecting the bare minimum from your party members toxic.
The person who doesn't have a main class or character.
Yes people resd forums as evidenced by new players posting and commenting here. I did bring it up with the tank, you really think I wouldn't say anything but would come make a thread? I even told them it is a DPS increase for 3+ mobs and how potencies work. Guess what? They still didn't listen.Look, another person who got inconvenienced in a dungeon by a tank. A context lacking tank they didn’t bring… in a dungeon that is unknown. Not only did they inconvenience you and made you spend more time in a dungeon than you would have liked, but they also made you spend time and calories posting the 100th “Tanks bad with PSA” thread in the Official Forums.
Seriously, there’s no point in making these “tanks bad” threads. Those “bad tanks” you ran into don’t read the forums.
What do you expect of the outcome of this? Do you think tank mains are a collective and we hold meetings or something? Hey fellow tanks, remember to use your AOEs on packs. We got another negative feedback this week. We can’t afford to have any more negative feedback, or we’ll not get our bonuses this quarter. Also, the community wants you to just tank whatever they pull, no questions ask.
If you have a grievance with a tank, bring it up with that tank! Not here. Or better, yet just kick the tank. You have Vote Dismiss for a reason.
MY second point was directed at all these people who constantly use the excuse of someone being new. As if wiping deletes your character and makes you pay for 10 subs or something. All wiping does is make you walk for like 30seconds and try again. This weird fear people seem to have about wiping so they cost everyone 15-25mins extra time doing a dungeon. We could wipe every pull and it be faster than doing 1 mob at a time.
The next mentality is some how people seem to think tanks are the leaders of parties when they are in fact not. I can heal dps pulling one group at a time so you arent even needed in that situation. So you should pull more to pull your weight.
Yes I have all classes leveled to 80 and mostly tank and heal, I understand warrior setting up their dps buff, however Do not use your ST combo for the heal/shield please. You aoeing dps is far more beneficial. That shield/heal is piddly compared to killing a group of monsters faster.
As a tank main, who has raided multiple xpacs, when ever I level or play another role I find about 95% of tanks disappoint me. Its so easy, yet most can't just do the job as it is meant to be played.
