I am not in favor of a death penalty, but realize that one could very well be implemented in the future. Of all the games I've played that included some sort of death 'penalty' I believe I like Allods Online the most-when they had to spend actual time in Purgatory.![]()
I was a bonecrafter, black mage and white mage in FFXI. I had RR2 and RR3. I didn't care one ounce about dying, because it didn't inconvenience me in any real way. The minuscule XP that I lost, I made up quickly in some meripo parties that were super easy for me to get.
Death in FFXIV is worse for me, because I have to waste time running back and finding a repair NPC, and possibly even waste anima.
That said, I don't think people like OP actually care about the challenges and difficulties they personally go through. It's easy to set challenges for yourself in a game, and feel good about yourself for having those challenges if that's what you really like; play without anima, or force yourself to do something unpleasant when you fail at a task, or play without materia. You know, the same way you would do a Nuzlocke Pokemon playthrough, or play FFX without the Sphere grid, or play Resident Evil without saving; then you talk about it to people who are also of the same mentality and are doing the same challenges.
OP is actually interested in screwing over other players instead and masks it with a feeble "I just want some challenge" explanation.
I tricked myself. I thought this was a thread about primals/eidolons such as Anima or Death.
Then I realized I already posted in here. Tis' strange how reading a topic title in a different mindset can result in a different interpretation.
You know someone is a bad player when he needed all this silly penalty to add chalenges.
Good players simply won't die easily with or without penalties, but they are smart enough to know what idea is good to be implemented and which one is right out retarded.
First of all, you can beat anything in this game without gear..... sooo you don't have to waist time running back to "find" a npc(pretty sure you know where they are). Waist anima? noo, if you are pting or doing ifrit, you should set your home point at the crystal.
I think you just have bad management of anima. Also, even if you do die, everyone pretty much has raise, so no worries there(your gear wont get hardly damaged either YAY) so no point in a repair.
If you are roaming around and die... well, you should have been more careful, it takes 0 effort to repair anything when DM and NPCs are everywhere in the game.
Also death penalties are not meant for "fun".
Ya it is easy to set challenges in the game. Though, as I said, people will always take the least resistant route(fact).
Death penalties have nothing to do with challenge, they are to punish the player for dieing, ya know, death. They also make it where people will try and stay alive or do even better the next time.
Well, you can ask anyone whom has played with me on my server, I'm a pretty good player. ^.^ soo your theory is out the window.
So you're just confirming that you want to screw the game up for everyone that plays, because you dislike that they don't all subscribe to your masochistic ideal of what an MMO should be. Got it.
Idk who you do events with. But the people I do events with try to stay alive because it's more fun to be in the fight then watching the fight.
