actually, unlike WoW.. a surprising number of people do NOT race to end game...Yeah, you might want to check the ilevel on those pieces, then remind yourself of the obsession with speeding through content the player base has.
And lvl 80 gear was just one example I pulled out of my sleeve. There's more to spend cash on in the game than just teleport.
The free sets of i430 gear that Grenoldt will give you after you hand in the relevant role quest crystals.
Followed by the i450 gear you can quickly earn from Eden's Gate while completing it for story and the free i485 weapon you can get from the first step of the relic questline just by completing a solo duty. (Though I do think that buying the Exarchic weapon is the best quick use of gil to get a head start on levering up the rest of your ilevel through duties.)
It's not instant max ilevel but it's stuff you'll get for free from activities you'll need to do in the process of getting to endgame.
Also, I just ran trial and raid roulette to check how much gil that gives you. For duties lasting five to ten minutes I got 11,850 gil base reward (for each) and 4,266 for being in need for trials. This is what I do in the game most regularly.
The roulettes don't list the base reward so I can't quickly check what you get from them, but they do list the "adventurer in need" bonus, which is 7,110 for most dungeon-length duties and 11,850 for levelling.
You're only going to spend a fraction of that on teleporting. I've never bothered with aetheryte tickets, even on alts, and I don't even notice the cost.

How many teleports do we make a day?
I think this is more for lore than gil sinking.

once you get to this guy in the MSQ you complete your role quest for the appropriate job he will give you FREE sets of 430 80 left side gear.
.. you know how I can tell you're rushing to "endgame"?
You wanna skip ahead you're going to pay for it, the price of instantly max leveling once you ding is a lot of Gil. The rest of us gear up as we play the game.
They literally just told you they are iLVL 430.Yeah, you might want to check the ilevel on those pieces, then remind yourself of the obsession with speeding through content the player base has.

430 is perfectly serviceable to work towards tomestones, etc.
Contrary to what's going on in your brain, the average FFXIV player does not, in fact, race to the end of the game because (shock I know) there is actually surprisingly little to do once you're there.
This is not a problem of "omgerd they're raising teleport rates! my savings!" as it is a lack of patience to get into Endgame ASAP.
You are by no means "required" to buy any gear off the market, and in fact I would actively recommend you don't unless you need a little push to get into your next target content. You can easily farm gear in dungeons via Trusts or the Nier raids.
What is it that you're "required to spend money on" besides teleports/transport? Even repairing gear is free if you put in an hour and mine a ton of dark matter. At later levels, sure you have to trade tokens for it or buy it..but we're still talking dirt cheap.

I know what you mean. I spent over 1 million gil on the Bard when I first hit 80 in 5.2, because I couldn’t meet the ilevel requirement to finish the MSQ. Yeah, I knew the alternative, to grind the dungeon that I was tired of running, and also failed to beat the RNG god for upgrades. I thought that ilevel was good enough to finish 5.5 MSQ, but ended buying gear again when I came back.Yeah, you might want to check the ilevel on those pieces, then remind yourself of the obsession with speeding through content the player base has.

Anyway, this is why I’m quite conscious with spending “money” in this game, like rarely use paid teleport, because I hate grind.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out then I guess? You seem to take every senior player advice to being hate towards new players.
The problem with teleport fees is that they're a lazy and poorly designed gil sink. It also doesn't actually do the job. If you want to deflate the economy, give people things they want to buy for gil, rather than something that feels like a penalty for using a basic game mechanic. Here's a simple suggestion: make mogstation items available for gil. Say 2mil or 5mil or whatever amount it is for $1 equivalent on the mogstation. It's horribly inefficient compared to just buying with money, but someone who's got "nothing to buy" with their gil can get something they do want, and many will actively collect gil from other players to get rewards from this system. Nobody's going to collect 10m gil then teleport until it's gone.
I'm very confused. Why buy max iLevel gear the moment you get to 80? Every person I've ever met obtains progressively better gear over time. Even hard core raiders (whom are the only people who actually "need" that max gear) go through intervals before getting it. Class level and iLevel both get synced when you go into pretty much all content in the game. The only exception is the current highest tier. Even things presently at max level can still sync your gear. There really isn't a reason to get the best gear in the game unless you're raiding constantly.Yes, a handful, maybe enough to cover future teleport. How about everything else that needs money in this game?
I live on a relatively inexpensive server I believe, a piece of gear for a fresh 80er costs around 50k each. Depending on job, you'll need 12-13 pieces, which means 600k for each role brought to 80.
Now multiply that with category, like Fending, Aiming... even just 2 categories put you above one million.
It doesn't end there, there's more money to spend to get where you need to be, and then you didn't even sink one gil into stuff like glamours, even just dyes or hair styles, which are a major part of the game and the reason many people chose XIV over other games.
I really rather not spend more money on something like Aetheryte teleports, but I'm aware that this forum is an echo chamber, and arguing won't get me far, so I'll stop here and wait to see how it turns out.
Not sure what you guys are spending gil on. Ive ran 3 characters to 80 and all 3 I have massed 1mill minimum time I've hit 80. Stop buying gear from MB, shop around and buy from gear npcs. Do the side quests and sell all that free hq gear u get in each area. Then turn that free gil into a solid gil source i.e crafting.
