I think a game like ffxiv would last 2-3 hours with wifi on vita. Pretty decent. ImoAny publisher (small or big) can put their software on the playstation network if Sony thinks they are worthy. The devkit is probably pretty expensive though. For PSP it was around $1500 I think.
And a battery life of 2-3h is still more than 99% of the gaming laptops out there got :P
I don't need a Vita to understand hardware limitations -.- for one the wireless for the vita would be horrible for an MMORPG, second the battery life, you would need to leave it plugged in. The most important of all, space, your going to need a good sized memcard if your going to put FFXIV on it, even with FFXIV being on its own card. I would say though the number one reason why it would not happen, SE would have to make twice the amount of textures, 1 set for vita, and one set for PS3/PC. The Vita is a nice system, and when there are games I want for it, I will get one. I wont sit here though and say all these things about it that really are not true.

It seemed pretty fine to me when I tried playing multiplayer.I don't need a Vita to understand hardware limitations -.- for one the wireless for the vita would be horrible for an MMORPG, second the battery life, you would need to leave it plugged in. Why should 3 hours battery life be a problem? You're supposed to take 1 hour break after every 2 hours gaming anyway.
If FFXIV had it's own 16GB memory stick while the texture files are only half the size, where is the problem again?
And why should it be any extra work to offer smaller textures? They can be scaled down easily.
Agreed. Anyhow, how many mb's, do yOu think we update every patch? Lol yes mb's not gb. Some people talk like every patch is 10gb lol. Not even 1gb plus, unless they add 10 new cities after 2.0, you won't have to worry about not having space for ffxiv updates ever if you get a 8gb memory stick and over and use it mainly for save and such with your vita. And why is the wireless horrible for an MMORPG? The VITA's processor won't even be a problem if Square lowers the res (which they would do), lowers texture quality and builds a better client that doesn't do stupid stuff like render water that is below the ground. You know, stuff you'll never see unless you glitch up and fall through the ground or something.
It won't be as realistic then though! 'Cause in real life the water is also there even though you can't see it! OMG SE needs to start rendering the inside of peopleThe VITA's processor won't even be a problem if Square lowers the res (which they would do), lowers texture quality and builds a better client that doesn't do stupid stuff like render water that is below the ground. Totally see that coming in FFXX
playing this game on the tiny screen on the vita sure would suck. lol
FFXIV is too much for the Vita to handle. Game would be hugely down graded to even run on a Vita.
Plus Keyboard and no R2/L2 buttons and etc.
I could see FFXI & FFX & FFXII and FFXIII on the Vita.
If FFXI comes to the vita I'm rage quitting XIV and going back to XI.
i bet my 1gil on FF14 dev team is working on PSV vers. as we speak!!!!!!!!!!!!
