Increasing teleport fees is a regressive tax. It's not a good idea.

Increasing teleport fees is effectively a regressive tax: "A regressive tax is a tax applied uniformly, taking a larger percentage of income from low-income earners than from high-income earners."

I don't think this is the right solution for adding more gil sinks. It's not going to have a tangible effect on the gil-billionaires, but it will affect new players and those without much gil generally.

Given that they've said some routes will be cheaper than they are currently, I'm guessing it will mostly balance out. By the time you're in a position to regularly be teleporting to various far flung destinations you'll likely have been able to accrue enough gil (and/or Aetheryte tickets) anyway. And before that point it may actually be cheaper for you than now.

I teleported a lot when I started out. So many back and forth runs between towns, probably the only thing I really disliked at first.

A new player is not going to be teleporting to the Crystarium for 1,442 gil. If anything their fees will be reduced if they're teleporting from Uldah to Black Brush Station etc... We'll be fine.

Or go do the daily and weekly rank B Hunts and just buy up thousands of aetheryte tokens with the Hunt currencies like Allied Notes or Centurio Seals which allow you to never have to pay for teleportation again (seriously, Hunts are so easy and the cost for the tickets in Hunt currency is very low so it surprises me just how few people do this). It's a non-issue really.
