I remember that the battle climbing comment really saddened me. I want to spend 30 minutes climbing a mountain.

You are right. I remember reading that and thinking... did he just talk himself out of a good idea because of what he ASSUMES we'd feel about it? That is preposterous.
Yeah, I'd like to be able to climb the mountain to Garuda as well. I like to see the world change as I traverse it; everything feels much more real that way.
I'm OK with zones as long as it means we'll get interesting and diverse environments. But I hope that we don't jump too far when crossing a zone line. When I'm walking I want to SEE the world, not warp across it. That's what teleporting is for.
This is one of the things that scares me about the future of this game. Yoshi-P and his new team have no doubt helped turn around Final Fantasy XIV so far, and I commend them for that effort. However he comes off with this attitude that seemingly doesn't give a rats ass about people who want to adventure, and experience their character to the fullest.
Rather we get massive exp boosts to hit 50 in a few short days, no effort to reach any of the primals, extremely easy content, and poorly implemented solo quests. Everything screeches of unoriginality. It's like they don't care about people who like that sense of adventure. Want to do the content? Here's a teleport. Want to hit 50? Here do it in a few short days. Want to do this quest? Ok spend 5 minutes solo and your done.
I'm really hoping that his stance on this changes. Sure maybe the adventure to the top of the mountain should be shortened AFTER you walk that 30 minutes and unlock it.
I don't get that vibe from him , I sense that he values us as customersThis is one of the things that scares me about the future of this game. I'm surprised everyone (who has played FFXI) suddenly forgot the existence of places like Attohwa Chasm and Uleguerand Range, especially the latter. Does anyone remember the days when you exp'd/merit'd off Demons and Eyes in the mountains? If that wasn't mountain climbing, I don't know what is.
Seemless maps aren't exactly an absolute requirement to enjoy these kinds of experiences.
