Dont know, a guy in my FC just camped a house in shirogane this night and got it. I will ask him later how long it took him. At first there were like 5 or 6 people trying to buy it but they all went to bed and then he got it in the middle of the night.

Will share one of my experiences
I am in one of the most populate server. I was lucky enough to own a small plot in Limsa once. It was the time ppl can still occasionally make a new character in the server if they wait long enough.
First I use the “come back an check once a while” way and miss 5 plots, after that I was desperate and move on to the camp Placard methods and took me 3 plots to finally be the lucky winner. Camping those 3 plots took me roughly 17 hours in total.

Worth it? Not really, I can run many content in 17hours play time. Lottery or camping placard are both gamble. Difference is the long camping deferred many potential players who don’t have the time or don’t want waste time camping. So less competition because a terrible execution system.
You will have a higher chance of getting a plot with placard system only because it benefits a tiny portion of player base. Lotto have a smaller chance of getting a plot because the bar is set much lower almost majority of the player base have a chance

Hard to ignore a symptom that keeps you from functioning regularly (placard camping) and sometimes the cure costs too much (massive ward expansion til there is never a shortage) and all that is left is to fight the most major symptoms (implementing a lottery so any who want a house stand a decent chance without the trauma of camping)

Only way we're going to get this cure is through multiple additional data centers (like we need a South American and maybe another North American one in addition to the announced Oceanic DC), and then a new neighborhood each expansion. At minimum, we should see an Ala Mhigan, Norvrandt, and Sharlyan neighborhood.

Once all of those are met, maybe supply will be at a point where it's somewhat caught up, but I doubt it will before then.

I prefer the approach that will cause less people to have to purposely deprive themselves of sleep in order to get a housing plot; said healthier approach seems to be the new lottery system right now, and I hope that immediately becomes the universal standard as well.

You'll love them until you find you can't get a house with a lottery. They need to fix the insane time associated with timers and the games some play with relocation. Lotteries won't make things better for users only make it harder to get a house.

It's good to see that this lottery concept will be relegated to specific wards. I guess we'll have to wait and see what percentage of the new wards will be lottery and which will be first come first serve. Hopefully we'll get some clarification when 6.0 hits or soon after.
