@OP: Your option was allowed for a long time. It didn't work because if the option to skip exists and isn't taken, somebody is going to be upset. Ergo, "we can't have nice things".

Just go read a darn book or watch You Tube during those times. It’s what I do.
The only reason you even bother to waste 30-50 minutes for these dungeons are the great rewards attached, hence the unskippable cutscenes. If you allow cutscene being skipable, the reward must be cut to balance (let's say, reduced to 1/3 of what it is offering now cuz the runs are like 3 times shorter). If that ever happens I guess nobody will bother running these two dungeons anymore save for moogle events, hence new players will struggle finding party for the only two 8-man dungeons in the entire game.
I don't like these dungeons, but still find them handy to gear up and level up alts due to big exp and poetic rewards. Between being able to afk for 30 minutes in a 50 minutes run vs have to run 3 dungeons back to back for 45 minutes straight for the same or less rewards, I guess I will choose the first.

This is why yoshi said at one point they are looking into a solo duty for msq roulette. Not sure about castrum, but certainly for prae. Then you get the ultima weapon as the standard end of msq trial.
not heard anything on it since however on those two but we have heard cape westwind might "disappear in its current form" come 6.0. Lets hope it does get changed so crustal tower can be the msq roulette
After all rhitatyn got promoted from "easiest fight" to stress test boss. The current trial was described by yoshida as unworthy

Rhitatyn was never a tough fight. With the out-of-control item sync (he's tuned for fresh 50s in artifact gear; we get synced to 130 Augmented Ironworks level), he's a complete joke.
The cutscenes were made unskippable because people kept pressuring new players to skip them, sometimes shaming or abusing them in the process, if not outright kicking them from the dungeons. Since they're required for story progression, that's completely unacceptable. The excessive rewards were added to bribe returning players to keep running it to fill the roulette so new players can progress.

You get the xp because of the cutscenes. If you skip them you won't get it, it's really pretty simple. If you don't want the cuts or the xp just don't run the duty. Why is that concept so hard for some to understand.
Why would you get the same rewards without new players?
I can only repeat, ppl reap what they've sown.... so yeah.
At this point invest teh week and turn em into lv 50 normal raids and be done with it.

It used to be this way, people kicked new people to do it faster. While I don't mind it being unskippable for any new players who want to enjoy the story, if everyone has already completed it (and watched the cutscene) once, it only really serves to further increase the amount of time it takes to do MSQ roulette.
It seems like a good middle ground, I'm sure a few people would still grumble over having to wait on new players, but I'd think most people wouldn't mind given that whenever they don't have any new players they can now skip. Because right now, its a massive pain point.
The code is already there to check if there are any new players, any you have the ready check system to use to skip on a unanimous vote. Prototyping this wouldn't take more than an hour for whoever gets the ticket.
