They will be label as guilty no matter what. So not only is help not really that great right now because we just don't have enough understanding yet.

It does not work like that, and the longer they hold it in, the worse it could be on them. As I said we don't know. However, they letting out the desires over fake things that makes no victims, and might help them keep things in check is much better than your idea of going cold turkey.
