Then why did SE make male Hrothgar when they could have gone the male Viera route for even more money?

At this point the most I ask for is a bestial face like the male Hrothgar. Body I don't care too much for, but the face is easily the most important part SE need to work on (and body-fur). If they just default to human face with cat ears (like Miqo'te, Viera and arguably Au Ra), then... why even bother making them?

Yoshi P already said why, more fans wanted Viera, but the small community also wanted a bestial race, and he was also in that small number himself so he had them make both.

I personally think the females may have a smaller/no snout at all or at least something like the Bless cat race which that concept art sort of already looks like. Simply because they already know about the issues the face causes for making headgear so they may work around that. I suppose this all depends on if Male Viera will also have the issues the females have to show that they actually want to work around the issues or not.

I have doubts that we'll ever see hats for Viera. I think a few modern aesthetics are as much as we could possibly get. Hair for bunnies and hats for Hrothgar, maybe? Considering they never unlinked au ra faces and horns, I don't think they'll unlink Hrothgar faces and hair; hats would be the least they could do.

I doubt viera will get any hats unless it has a completely round top, like hoods. I wouldn't doubt that hrothgar will see more working hats, but still a limited amount of them. I think hrothgar actually already have more working hats than viera anyway. At least viera will be able to have more hairs, and be able to switch them too. I think it's a little too late, unless their graphical overhaul works miracles, and even then they'd probably have to make custom hats for them to look good on viera/hrothgar, for the most part.

Female hrothgar - if lucky - won't have the same fantasia issue male hrothgar has, but that really depends on how "custom" their heads will be, I suppose. Having a less beastlike head for female hrothgar, might have the added benefit of not having male hroths issues. It's really a pick your poison.

Pantera females do not have snouts, they just have a little cleft lip to make them have some semblance of catness. But yeah, you're right, the concept art looks incredibly similar to them

Welp, guess I should begin prepwork to be immensely disappointed. The size isnt the issue, its the face.
If they are gonna do the Beauty and the Beast Trope; Beastly "Ugly" males, and delicate pretty "human" females...then Im out...

Ill either Stay a FemRoe, Or Im gonna figure out some good Male Glamours. Cause I still love how the males look.

Oh I know, it was a rhetorical question. That said, this answer should also apply to the female Hrothgar as well and the concept art shown in the art book doesn't even come close to being bestial (especially when compared to the males. She's too human in appearance).

As it has been said before, they should look to GW2 and ESO for examples of females of a beast race done right. You look at them, and can instantly tell they're the female of that race. I'm hoping for similar faces as the males. Meaning more like real life lions.

I dont think they need to look anywhere for inspiration since they did so good with the males. They just need to repeat what they did by giving the females a beast head just like the males

Exactly, either both genders should've been humanoid "furry Roes" like that Bless race, or both actual furries, but doing half and half is such a cliche, and in XIV's case, a redundant one since Miqo and Au Ra already exist and more than fill in the 'cute monster girl' archetype.

**edit* this one's closer to the conventionally feminine look people so fervently attach to, but you can still clearly see she's a cat woman, and not a woman cosplaying as a cat
