    Thanks again Caimie,

I spent a fair amount of time crafting away last night to make sure I finished things before the reset and am closer to the point where I'll be getting WS as rewards; phew!

Sorry for the question; I usually check the forums at my desk before starting work and can't reference your guide. There's an item on the Scrip Exchange NPC in Rhalgr's Reach that looks like it can be turned in for gathering lore books; 40 tokens per book, IIRC? Is that what you're saying is the <lvl50 gear token? I'm at the point where I've got all the rank 3+ Master Crafting books and hardware, and am looking for ways to use the YS. I've got a bunch of the current engineering manuals and have started buying slithersand to make sure I have empty space for scrip rewards from various things.

Is there a way to translate yellow crafting scrips into DoL lore tomes or am I totally mistaken?

If I'm mistaken, what should I be buying with my YS once I've got all my lvl 80 Handsaint stuff?

    Thanks again!

Basically, every expansion, there are token that will allow you to buy Folklore Books. At Rhalgr's Reach, the NPC has a special kind of token called "Regional Folklore Hawker's Token" , which lets you buy the following:
Tome of Geological Folklore - Gyr Abania
Tome of Geological Folklore - Othard
Tome of Botanical Folklore - Gyr Abania
Tome of Botanical Folklore - Othard
Tome of Ichthyological Folklore - Gyr Abania
Tome of Ichthyological Folklore - Othard

These are old Folklore books from Stormblood, and honestly, nobody really care much about them anymore. I think you'd rather buy the "Regional Folklore Trader's Token" from Eulmore to get Shadowbringers' Folklore Books - Norvrandt (as shown in the pics above).

All in all, even those lvl 80 gathered items from Novrandt are no longer hot items, so you won't be making too much gil from them. But at least it's somewhat useful in the upcoming months until November. So there's still some market for them. Whereas the Stormblood ones are really outdated, and very few people would buy and use those mats.

Those are NOT the <50 gear tokens I was referring to. I was referring to the "Blue Gatherers' Scrip Tokens". Those were tokens for both ARR and HW Folklore tomes, so they were actually <60 ( to be more accurate).

Please note that crafters' scrips and gatherers' scrips are not interchangeable. So you can't use Yellow crafters' scrips to buy Folklore Books, but you can use Yellow crafters' scrip to buy Master Recipes... there are soooo many of them. I'm sure they will drain all your yellow scrips easily!

I like to have All The Things so I've already bought all the master recipe books and am now blowing the excess YS on materia and slithersand for future use. The Gatherer's white scrips are going to be a bit harder to come by, but I'll get there eventually...and eventually get all of the books for past expansions too. Since I returned at a bad time in the cycle as far as making money goes, I'm not terribly concerned about profitability. I just want to enjoy the content and collect everything to check off the boxes. . The serious money making efforts will start with 6.0. I'm glad we're on different servers! LOL

Wow, I'm impressed. I suspect that Slithersand is not going to be that useful (I can't be 100% sure). But I'd recommend stocking up at least 3 to 5 Soul of the Crafter, and perhaps ~99 Crafter's Delineation. I actually stocked up 350 delineations myself, but there's no telling what will happen in Endwalker. You should stock up at least 100 piece of each kind of Tier 5 crafting materia though, especially important one is the CP one.

I am not sure if you're interested, but if you have a lv 80 CUL, you can potentially go ahead with the quest for acquiring the "relic tool" for CUL. Its i510 and its stats will become obsolete in Endwalker, but it's a wonderful glamour tool. If you intend to collect everything, I would think it's a must-have. I personally like it a lot. Anyway, if you want it, you will need to buy a good number of Oddly Specific Seeds, Oddly Specific Aloe, and Oddly Delicate Hammerhead Shark.

You really do like to have all the things! This will in turn help you to get those achievements for MIN and BTN for Resplendent Tools, which are very beautiful.

Oh the opportunities will come for the prepared. This is not real life. This is final fantasy, so this sort of things are somewhat predictable. When the new game adds new gathered mats for new endgame battle gear, that's the time when you need to pick up that pickaxe and hatchet, and work hard for a few days. When everyone else is rushing to do MSQ and rushing to do the newest battle content, you go do gathering instead. Usually with just a few hours of play per day, I can still earn about 15 million on Day 1 of the patch, ~10 million on Day, ~5 million on Day 3, and total to about 35 million by Day 7. Then around Day 5 to 7, watch out for that OVERSUPPLY of mats. If the prices go below certain point (on Zalera, suitable buying price varies from around 600 gil a piece to 850 gil a piece of the newest unspoiled mats), you massively BUY instead of sell. Then the price will rebound again due to continuous demand (on Zalera, they usually go back to 1200-2000 a piece), and now you sell all that you bought.

After 1 to 2 weeks of effort, I go back to lazy mode again, and let those pickaxe/hatchet cover in dust in my inventory

I've got two more Souls of the Crafter sitting around from HW but haven't used them yet. I've tried, but keep forgetting to look up how to use them. Either I've forgotten how, or the method changed to something other than just clicking.

That's good advice on the Delineations; I'll start getting them once I've got enough Slithersand to make my Aesthete's gear and have all the Materia I'll need.

I've got next week off and plan on playing as much as I can so working on relic gear may be in the cards. I'm trying to decide if it's better for me to use that time to get to the point where I can make Chili Crab to help with leveling my other DoH jobs or if I should just push through with them so I can make my own Aesthete's gear rather than buying it. I've spent a lot of Gil (for me) on leveling in ShB and it hurts my heart. I normally try to be self-sufficient, but have made the mistake of working on crafting before going to work so I get in a rush and buy things I could gather myself.

I do like to have all the things!

That's exactly what I did in Heavensward and made a lot of money relative to my server's economy at the time. Once I got to the point where timed nodes became the limiting factor I lost a lot of interest in crafting and pretty much stopped. I got really tired of teleporting all over the place on a set schedule just to get materials to make things I didn't need. At that point I used what money I had to buy a nice little house to decorate, called it good, and didn't get serious about gathering/crafting again until I came back for ShB. Now that materials are easier to get DoL/DoH are fun to play again.

Talk to Alderan near the airship landing in Ishgard to exchange the "blank" Soul for the crafting Soul you want. Then you can equip it when you're on that crafting class.

We're limited to 3 Specialist at a time but can change our Specialist (one at a time) up to 3 times each week.
