The short answer: Whenever you want to switch jobs, simply equip its weapon.

The complete answer in case you're starting at ground zero: Each job has a starter quest giver in one of the major cities. For example, Uldah has a Thaumaturge/Black Mage quest giver, a Pugilist/Monk quest giver, and a Gladiator/Paladin quest giver. You should be visiting the quest givers regularly as you level a given job, because the job quests reward you with skills, and at level 30 they reward you with a soul crystal that you can equip to get a better version of your job (Paladin in your case). As soon as you get the soul crystal, make sure to equip it to switch to the better version of your job. Doing the starter quest for a given quest giver rewards you with a starter copy of that job's weapon. Switching to that weapon changes your job.

    Hey there:

General rule is just equip the weapon to change jobs.

Where you are (30s) shouldn’t take long to get another job up to where you can share the xp.

If you!re not really feeling it, once you hit 50 (and get to Ishgard) you can unlock DRK and MCH at 30, and once you get 60, you can unlock SAM and RDM at 50, so you don’t have to unlock something at level 1, although I do recommend it. Since your main is currently Paladin/gladiator, I recommend a non tank- really anything is good, so pick what you think is fun..but I would probably nudge towards either Bard/archer or blackmage/Thaumaturge just to have something quite different from your main..but you do you!

Don’t forget, once you get the job Crystal (like for pld) you need to equip that as well. The best thing to do is save a gear set and put it on a hot bar, so 1 touch to be ready to go.

Either scale the enemies up to the level OR scale the skills down, I don't care which one happens but when I get muscle memory for pushing certain buttons in the correct order then 90% of my buttons are greyed out and stop working..

It really makes me not ever want to do roulettes or fates that scale me down past a certain threshold.

    Sincerely,

    The ENTIRE FFXIV playerbase.

This creates a problem for low level characters who don’t have their Kit unlocked and could cause grief when players start refusing to play with such characters as a it will inevitably take longer to do content with less skills/dps capabilities.

The solution is simple, really: all jobs should have their entire base kit at like, level 25-30 and not 50. The only thing left to unlock at 50 and beyond should be the job gauge itself and related abilities.

Especially speaking for BLM, it is stupid to have to memorize several different rotations based on what’s unlocked when.
