At least the OP is actually asking the correct question, which is why do female characters have more options than male characters?
Instead of just being upset about it and then demanding that female gear becomes the same as male.

Proud of that random mother, such a good mother. Protecting her child

for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?

Men get a hat with their counterpart gearset. I'm pretty sure that's gender-locked too.
Also, what hair decorations can you think of that men would use but women would not?
I already have female alts only to make her use Frontier Ribbon. But don't you think it's funny they already make bridesmaid's dress unisex (which has ribbon on it) but not the Frontier Ribbon?
The hat variant is just about to same with others, such as Peacelover Hat.

I’ve seen lots of male characters look fantastic in female garb. Not just cringe crossdressing, but legit looked like female characters.
I saw a male, but feminine Au ra in the schoolgirl uninform and legit thought he looked like the stereotypical athletic-anime-sporty-girl until I got a better look. Could easily have passed for a girl with a typical swimmer’s body.
..so I see no issue in allowing other such glamour.

thats due to how men dress irl, mens fashion in general since the 1900s has been pretty basic in the west and is only starting to diversify now. where you might have 4 variations of the same outfit idea on a female model with dresses, skirts, trousers and shorts, the same can only really come in two variations that are "socially acceptable" if made for a male model. And even then shorts cut above the thigh would get a bit of side eye.
either the devs stick to what is acceptable and churn out limited variation but inoffensive designs (probably making 10+ identical looking trouser options in the process), or design varied outfits that might be derided as too flamboyant for the intended audience. see "why aren't there more manly man hairstyles" for examples of this approach backfiring.
edit: for clarity, i don't think gear should be gender locked at all, its a waste of design and texturing resources. wear what you want the fashion police aint real

Yeah the problem imo is not that female characters get skirts, shorts, dresses etc.
It's that male clothing is too limited and repetitive.
If anything mens clothing has more to learn from womens clothing than the other way around, but people just see some exposed skin and they flip out and it per usual ends up being about covering women up instead of giving men more options.
That's why I think it's refreshing whenever I see threads that are not obsessing about wanting female characters to have less options but instead wants to expand them to male characters too.
Because normally threads and comments about this tends to be ranting about how male characters got pants while they got a skirt or shorts.
When in reality the latter actually adds more variety to the gear than the former which imo is a positive.
I'm not a person who into wearing skirt but I don't mind using "girly" accessories such as Frontier Ribbon or even the Makai Markswoman's Ribbon for funsies... Do we have to wait 3 years again like bunny's outfit to make this happen? That's why I think it's refreshing whenever I see threads that are not obsessing about wanting female characters to have less options but instead wants to expand them to male characters too.
