The system is fine although not without flaws, it would've been better if essences/actions were infinite and not consumables, more people would use them and not have a "I need to save 99 Megalixirs for the final boss but I'll never use any" moment. The playerbase make it worse because a huge chunk of people don't understand it (which is also a flaw of the system, players aren't the only ones to blame), or in some cases they do understand but refuse to use it anyway, therefore becoming deadweight willingly. Not using damage boosting essences is the equivalent (or worse) of going into content with no job stone. This is no exaggeration, the impact on performance is enormous.
I mean even if they were free people still wouldn't use them. Either removed or mandatory.

The problem ISN'T healers rotation is busted or boring...
Lost Actions are way too rare and exclusive for the amount of DR and Zadnor that we're being required to do. It's clearly an intentional design to artificially expand the amount of time we spend doing content that is otherwise very flimsy.

That sounds dreadful. First there's the question of how they would be obtained. Then there's the idea that they're consumable. Also, do you really want to give this community *another* thing to hold against others for not doing? But in normal content this time? At least with Bozja it's in their special sauce zone and people can choose to opt out of the nonsense.
And finally, we had a system before that added flexibility and customization in the form of the old cross-class abilities and stat points. The community just forced cookie-cutter designs for what everyone was "required" to have and where they should use those stat points. Like healers had to go through 26 levels of THM for Swiftcast or they would catch hell for not having it. Didn't matter if you hated THM with a passion. The community considered having to do "only" 26 levels of THM part of the price of choosing to be a healer. And likewise for other roles. So much so that SE made the role system and just gave us those abilities.

They probably learned a lot from creating this content; as in they learned what people like and don't like, so let's hope they take a lot of feedback to heart.
Journey to all fish: 1383/1729 (348 remaining) [79%]

What essences and lost actions do: I love them.
How do we unlock those: I love them.
The fact that they're actually more like a consumable: Ugh, why?
Getting 50m+ DRn runs or any slog BSF raids in general: No, the system is 'okay'-ish. Majority of blame goes to the playerbase for their unwillingness to contribute for collective gains.
lol I'm probably one of those people, Im pretty much a hoarder and I like to max out items especially if they make it like a collectable grid as they do in that place. I havent ran the raid yet because I dont know where to start it because the quest I have doesnt show a marker.
But I hate consumables, in any form in RPGs. I always feel the content is designed to be cleared without consumables and use of any just hurts me, because I feel like there will always be a more dire moment I would needed to use it at.
But I'll keep it in mind once I do it. Tho don't get mad because I have no few 100k gil to spare to buy these things and only can use what rng threw at me.

Quick hint - If you have a healer (or black mage) at level 71, take 3 hours of your time. Go into a dead instance (so you're not fighting others doing the same thing). Put lost death and lost swift on your duty castbar (lost death is obtained from forgotten fragments of violence, i forget where lost swift is from).
Go to these locations and use repose on the star mob located there. Then swiftcast + lost death. If the mob dies, great! If it doesn't, use lost swift to quickly run away and then come back after your lost death is back up. (So in a minute.) This should take 10 minutes-ish (8 mobs, dont do the Tideborn Angel).
Do this while doing FATEs if you want, or chill while you do this. They respawn every 30 minutes.
You should net about 300 fragments total!
Lost Fragment of Skill and Awakening (which have most of the basic essences) are some of the easiest fragments to farm and grant between a 20% and 100% increase in damage output. It takes far less time to farm more than enough for 15 runs and do those runs than it would to do those runs without essences. It is not like people are being asked to use Deep and/or Pure Essences which are only about a 5% increase in damage output over the basic versions.
While you can get a lot of Fragments that way, the actions in Caution, Igenuity (which has swift) and Violence frags do not really speed up DR runs.
What you actually need are Skill (from non-magitek mobs in Section I), Awakening (from non-magitek mobs in Section II) and Supersition (CLL).

Basically i like the system in Bozja/Zandnor. But it is a little bit boring because most lost actions are mostly very passive improvements. They increase your LP/MP/DPS/HPS by a certain amount. You see some bigger numbers but it is all you get.
Cheers
