Issue? Did you mean entertainment? I mean, I presume you got to watch the healer get eaten by the boss with that unscripted impromptu live action cut-scene they put on for the group to enjoy while the tank was taking in the on SE put together, yeah?
On the plus side, I guess it doesn't lock you out of the fight any more.
I hadn't actually done Toto-Rak for years since I joined mid duty, Spawned in, ran as fast as I could to catch up (from the second boss teleport point) and the cutscene hit as I was running down the final corridor. Can't remember if I watched it or skipped it and watched it later, but I hit the Boss barrier just as it rose. Ended up actually running it for my first time on an Alt years down the road.
Doesn’t that door swing both ways? Is the new player not holding up the rest of the party (and in the most recent examples an entire alliance) to watch their cutscene?
That’s not to say it’s the player’s fault. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. SE had one thing to learn from castrum and prae, no cutscenes inside content, yet here we are again. Those who don’t learn from history…
They either need to make these cutscene unskippable like castrum and prae, thus ending the debate on if it’s ok to pull during them or not, or stop putting cutscenes inside content. Personally I think they should go with the latter since it’s obvious people don’t want them (even in castrum and prae people find work arounds to skip the cutscenes).
I don't know, it's hard to fairly compare the monologues in CM and Prae to the 60s or less on average cutscene that other group content has. Honestly, you're not always going to run into new players running it. The majority of the time is likely with people that have seen it and selected the option to skip after the first view.
I am never gonna shout at you of you pull during someone cutscene.. but you know.. I think it's One of those things that in my mind fell under basic game courtesy.. Just imho
I wait before pulling if the player was actually playing during the dungeon, not just being a braindead deadweight, and also didn't make us wait 10 mins to watch the dungeon cutscene at the start.
And tbh I don't remember being called names for pulling early. The last time something like calling out happened was during Alexandar raid and I was playing as a healer, I saw the tanks were hesitant to pull because someone was watching a cutscene, I just broiled and everyone started attacking but there was that one guy, the other healer who said "bro?" and I replied with "yes sis?" and at the end, I got 3 comms. So my impression is that people support their time not being wasted.
Honestly, it really becomes easy to be hostile towards someone who dares to flame for whatever. You can always make the argument of "why should we wait for a toxic little sh*t like you to watch their cutscene" and if they refuse to play if I am a healer I might wipe on purpose so that we can kick them or just keep them dead on the ground.
Pffffffff I do so enjoy coming here sometimes because threads like these really demonstrate what brews below the surface of the gcbtw.
I have a solution to the problem though! Alas! There is this small box on your screen with words in it. Some say it is the fabled gasp chat box.
You can use this little window to express your desire or lack of desire to the other non npc players in your party. Do not have time for cutscene? Wish to skip or obtain chests inside of a dungeon? No problemo! This lala over here has you covered!
Just click that little window and type out a message to your party. Inform the new player that you can re-watch cutscenes inside of your inn room. It kinda removes the whole "why did they pull without me" or "why are they making me wait" conflict because well, now everyone understands what is occurring.
Sheesh.. I am beginning to suspect that my partner's pops is correct and many cannot understand that this is not a single player Final Fantasy game. Grow up. I have never ever never seen behavior like this be so fricken common in any other multiplayer game.
Others have mentioned already but this is why we have that little ring at the start of dungeons and trials. It is also why wipes still happen in Labyrinth on the Atmos fight. If you pull before everyone is inside other players are telewarped into alliance A fight.. if too many are new there will not be enough in the other zones.
Are you okay? If the penalty for leaving is increased the sprouts will end up being kicked more often. Yesterday I left stone vigil because the tank could not hold aggro on 3 mobs with stance on. And this is an incredibly simple thing to do. I told them to learn how to aoe in the hall of novice and left on the second pull because the mobs killed me. It's not like I couldn't heal myself with aldo or physicks I am just not going to do that. Now, if I have to take a penalty to leave someone who hasn't covered the basics that are actually introduced in the hall of novice I will just votekick them because "being new" is not an excuse for being braindead or not even trying.
TBH that's the good outcome. What will really happen is people will straight up afk without saying anything and you can't do anything about it because you can't get in trouble for afking in ANY content unless you admit to it in-game.Are you okay?
