We tried being nice and passive, and people still slaughter us in the streets. So yes, I think the 'passive agression' is pretty dang warranted by this point. Thank you for your support, though; literally all most of us are asking is just for the right to even freaking exist.

Why do people feel the need to sexualize, romanticize, or change a character to fit their own ideals? If the creators wish to add or change up an avatars persona or story they will. If you want it to happen now by all means create your own game, story, and etc. to meet your ideology.

There is a certain benefit to exposing people to non-heteronormative relationships and characters, even if not being super obnoxious about it. Bringing those people to light helps normalization, which helps LGBT people feel included in a society that is often hostile towards them (Which in turn helps integration and willigness to contribute society grow), and also helps non LGBT people see these groups as human. Exposure makes them see them as common, helps them connect with them in their humanity, how they share similar trials and tribulations, how they are nothing more than other humans trying to get by.


Of course, it's all about how you show these characters. Writers often compensate for LGBT characters by making them Mary Sues, Gary Stues, raising them above the common folk to show how "special", "unique" and "oppressed" they are. Honestly that doesn't help non LGBT people see LGBT people as humans.

Saying things like romance and sexuality shouldn't be in the game, are you forgetting about all the great hetero romances and have deepened many characters back stories? Example: Y'stola and Runar, Wedge and his crush on Tataru, Magnai and his search for a wife. Not to mention all side stories that go much farther. Those are wonderful and you never scream about their genitals to discredit them in the story.

In the end that doesn't matter here because this thread is only to say hello to the player base. The LGBTQAI community is not political, they are people. People that see you trying to hurt them because they would like to play the game without be harassed.

Lol, right very interesting 3 dimensional and profound 2deep4me characters: Wedge and Magnai. If Wedge and/or Magnai die I quit this game...

Magnai's search for wife is played for laughs/as a running gag and if anything it actually TAKES AWAY from what should otherwise had been an intimidating character. It is very hard to take him seriously as a threat over your claim over the Steppes when he is running around chasing skirts or as a powerful ally in your fight against the Empire when he is reduced to a child tantrum over BossGirl'Tolla hurting his feelings.

And sure, Wedge's crush over Tataru deepens his character and backstory...because there is none of it to begin with. Go right now to google and type "Wedge FFXIV" and every single result entry will be "Wedge AND Biggs FFXIV" because neither Biggs nor Wedge have enough of a character or personality outside their pairing to warrant being considered separate entities.

OH and finally I love how you purposefully left out the ONE romance/crush/love story that actually gives a backstory, purpose and motivation to a character, because it would work against your "heterosexual oppresion" narrative: Asahi's obsession over Gaius.
