Give us a break, Squeenix. There's no reason you need to be charging $30 for mounts.
(Well no reason that doesn't involve greed and double dipping.)

Greed and double dipping? It's not like you're buying some fancy extra mechanics you can't get for free here, it's just a cosmetic. I understand that it's expensive, but have you considered not buying it?
0w0 what are you doing here?
Uhhh, double dipping means they're already getting a monthly sub. Why do they need cash shop on top of that? And I despise the argument that cosmetic is an excuse to price gouge people for things like that.
I didn't expect it to be different and that's the sad part, IMO.
Also it's only a two seater. >_>
Unless things have changed since 2014 all mogstation profits goes straight back into FF14 while SE gets its cut of the subscriptions.
The last time(2014) Yoshi P was asked about it he said it went to fund in-game stuff and the then new EU datacenter. If still true, this is funding stuff in EW and our oceanic brothers future new data center which I'll gladly do.

I agree, this weekend looked like they were doing their best impression of Activision by adding one of the coolest mounts ever to the cash shop while at the same time adding an earnable mount in game from the Moonfire Faire event that's just a reskin of the 2017 Xmas event bear.
I've bought a few store mounts over the years but can't bring myself to encourage them any more, as cool as the mounts are. It's been 2.5 years since Gold Saucer got a new mount to buy with MGP, all I do is the fashion report and I'm sitting on millions with nothing to spend it on. When Leviathan Unreal came out instead of adding a new mount for faux leaves they just gave us an alternative way to buy the 4 year old Ixion mount, little wonder it's hard to put together a party of people who want to bother with the weekly clears. It frustrates me to see them making completely unique and cool mounts for the cash shop like Peacock, Spriggan, and Cruise Chaser while there's plenty of content in the game that wants for new rewards to incentivize players.
And they still make money by adding mounts as in game rewards. People who want the mounts are going to do the content, which they pay a sub to do. Fewer people would let their sub lapse between patches if there were more desirable rewards to earn by playing the game.
Oh nice. They added cruise chaser? I think I will go buy it. Thanks for the info.
To be fair, the money made through the Mog Station is guaranteed to go back into the game itself rather than be redistributed elsewhere within the company like other sources of revenue are. It also mitigates the need to increase the price of the monthly subscription fee - which is exactly what would happen if we did not have a cash shop. MMO's are very expensive to develop content for and maintain over time.
With that said, we are in a dry patch right now and it would have been nice to see something added to the achievement certificate vendor to make up for the delay of Endwalker. Back in the early days, throughout ARR, players used to get little surprises in the mail for continuing to support the game. That system was scrapped and the replacement, unfortunately, has been neglected.
An additional thread was definitely required, as the whine you were crafting was unique in both texture and form. Thank you for giving us all a chance to sip on that sweet QQ vintage.
Thank you people who buy it for helping keep our monthly fee down. You are the true MVPs.
