How about letting us upgrade ground-mount speed, to be faster than just flying?

I think this is actually a really good idea. We skip over so much of the zones since flying is faster, but if we could blitz through on our mounts on foot we can still take in the sights. We might not be stopping to smell the roses, but it would mean we still take a gander at our surroundings while choosing our path.

i thought 1 star was the same speed as flying and 2 star was actually faster. It's just having to navigate the terrain/perspective that makes it seem slower.

This is why you can only unlock flying once you have completed the MSQ for that zone.
