Mounts are tools, and everyone can get a chocobo very early into the game. It may not look as fancy, and people can aspire to collect more, but they have the *functionality* of being able to
get around the game quickly. Imagine having to wait outside of plots rolling randomly to get your first mount, spending potentially dozens of hours clicking a sign just so it won't take as long to get around.
That's the situation right now with player housing.
Housing is similar to mounts is that they are both vanity side content. With the exception of gardening to get some crafting mats (which hopefully can be done with the new island sanctuaries come 6.X) The only purpose of a house is to have a place to decorate. You don't "need" a house to do any other content in the game and you can on most servers easily get an apartment to decorate until you get lucky. There are also mounts that are no longer available in the game and no matter how much you grind, you'll never get it. I am not defending the system in any way but the comparison is valid.

And this has been said multiple times but you are NOT SUPPOSED TO CLICK ON A PLACARD FOR HOURS AT A TIME. That is your choice to do that. It took me a long time but I eventually got my first small by walking up to a placard and clicking no more then a few times after checking back every hour or so.

    End of PSA

The comparison is not valid. Mounts, besides a few of them, are infinite drops all the time. Housing is limited supply. I can't go up to house and know if I farm this for 4 days ill get it. You may farm houses for months an never get one. And its not due to drop rate, its due to supply. Two 100% different things. If people are standing around for hours clicking on a placard with a hope they will get a house, your system is broken. Instance housing is the easy fix. Still can cost alot. People who did this huge grind and got a house should be happy with the change. You should want otherd to not go through the nightmare you went through. Just because of a change, doesn't take a way from your battle story in Savage Housing.

The entiled argument was bad too. This always comes up when you talk about items in any game. Your entiled to be able to play all aspects of the game you payed for. So for raids, your entiled to be able to go in there and do them. Mounts, your entiled to be able to farm them and they will drop. That doesn't mean you will clear it at the hardest, but you will have seen all the content you paid for. Housing is different. This is content people have payed for with their subscription that they can't use and its not something they can just gear up for.

Ill say it again, easy fix, instance housing, problem solved. No reason to tip-toe around this unless their goal is to make it this hard. Which if thats the case, ok just be honest with us and say "Hey, not everyone will get a house, its hard, and we like it that way". I'm fine with that, but seeing they devs trying to fix this gives me hope, but it seems like they are doing minor tweaks instead of just a re-do thats needed. We will see as time goes. I figure no house for me for a while lol

You can farm the feast pvp for an entire season (or multiple seasons) and not get the top 100 mount. Your right that there are only a few mounts that work this way but it doesn't negate the point. Would it be nice to have unlimited house, yea sure. Do i think it would be great if other/newer players didn't have to go through housing savage like i did, yes of course. But you said it yourself how increasing the supply would be costly (very costly). And I personally would rather that money go to other things than trophy content.

It's still a valid expenditure considering that segment of the population rarely gets anything new... compared to the massive spend that is the Ishgardian housing which had the entire Ishgardian Restoration as the prologue to the neighborhood.
