There're actually a lot of questions pertaining to endgame gameplay, metas, gearing etc asked by not only returners, but other mentors as well. Extensive endgame knowledge is actually a valuable groundwork for advising newer players, because it's where their journey is ultimately headed and you can help to guide peoples path so that they're productive when they get there.

There're are a handful of mentors that go overboard and spam endgame theorycraft stuff to feed their own ego, but they're fairly rare and at the very least their information is generally accurate. The same can't be said of the weird PVE mentors that spend 10 hours a day on the game, yet never touch any hard content, and tell sprouts bizzare things like "You take more damage from behind", "Sheltron only blocks physical attacks", "Upheaval is useless outside of IR", or "Spamming emotes instead of dpsing as a healer is okay as long as you keep the party alive" (these are all real examples I've personally witnessed).

Broad experience is valuable for an educator, and imo some level of raid experience is a vital part of that tapestry for PVE mentors. Personally I'd like to see the PVE mentor requirements updated to include some reasonably outdated savage content, or clearing the EX from the previous patch.

Those questions are asked, but the truth is a lot of mentors do actually have the answers and they are good enough. There have been a lot of memes lately, but a lot of them have actually done at least some savage tiers.

It's good for them to have at least stepped into extreme or savage once to understand what is different about it so they can answer questions about it, but in the novice network I think it's intentional that while one mentor might not have the answer, another will.

"You take more damage from behind", "Sheltron only blocks physical attacks"
To be fair, these things were true in Heavensward for paladins. Those mentors must have not kept up with the changes over time or taken a long break.
