Well, that should please some people at least with them not being mandatory. CT is a bit of a sore spot for some for whatever reason. It is neither long, difficult nor grindy.

CT has been made mandatory because its events need to happen for continuity, not just for story relevance.
Alexander and Omega were also very important to the lore of Shadowbringers, but in a way that the plot can proceed whether the events have happened (yet) or not. They didn't recommend replaying them in the lead-up to Shadowbringers like they did for CT, but that was a sensible move as it would have spoiled some of the mystery of what was going on, whereas CT gives you information you should pick up on immediately.
Anyway, it's great that they're recommending the Binding Coil but it makes me hope, even more than usual, that they might finally produce a more accessible story version of the raid series.
It's because when the Thunder god raids were new and even now people would abuse the system by taking off gear and you'd ONLY get the CT raids. It got so bad people just stopped unlocking CT so it would push them into the new raids. But Square fucked that by making CT required. So thats where some of the salt comes from.

I've seen more than a few people in game (sprouts/returners for that matter) complaining about having to do CT at all to get to Shadowbringers. I am not talking about veteran players. It shows up too often in Alliance Raid Roulette. Simply because you can cheese the ilvl search on the roulette by removing enough gear, which will then force the DR to look for an AR fitting that ilvl...meaning only CT raids. It's an exploit we've been wanting them to fix for a while, because there's nothing more annoying then getting Syrcus Tower for a full month in a row. That's not hyperbole either, that happens, to a LOT of players (it happened to me during 5.0).
Because they are intimidated by the words "24 Man Raid", not realizing just how easy and forgiving (for the most part) the 24 mans really are.
They're raids. A zerg rolls through the instance and kills stuff.
When I did CT and Ivalice to unlock content, there was a small core team who carried the rest of the team, who was dead on the ground most of the time.
Call it dungeon, raid, whatever. That's not fun content to me.
These CT elitist raiders are ruining our game!! /s
Though, seriously, I am glad they are making raids more core to the story and not just encapsulated arcs. They're great for tying up loose ends, expanding on subplots, and filling in character development (thinking very much of Eden with this. 10/10 wish I could wipe my brain and do it all again). I still firmly believe that if you are paying to play an MMO then you shouldn't shake your fist at the suggestion of multiplayer content.
You can tell even if it wasn't what you mean that you hit a nerve lol. I could do nothing but lol at the replies. We've all been hurt by this. You collected the reasons of players who have PTSDCT. xD
