It was a nice gesture. Yes, that is what this community is and was before streamers.

I dont think the community is changing the streamers in any way lol. Asmongold is still the same person hes always been, 14's community isnt going to change that especially with the way they behave. Change is good anyhow and if a streamer brings abount change to 14 then so be it, it could use it.
I doubt its changing streamers, more just exposing the community who those streamers really are. Most people here only knew of Asmon from clips and stories that more often were meant to paint him in a bad light.
I want to follow this up a bit and give my perspective. I had no idea who this guy was until I started seeing the plethora of posts on these forums. I've watched a few of his videos just out of curiosity and I find nothing wrong with them. I'd even go as far as saying if you remove his streamer personality and view a couple of his videos under the moniker of Zack, I assume that's his real name, he's actually a decent person. I don't understand the disdain some may have for him, other than maybe jealousy. He has a vulgar mouth, but if some are offended by that, they have a long road in front of them. And I can see the allure for some, notably for those that are young and impressionable, but there's nothing I've watched that has been offensive on any level.
I don't think anyone can doubt that this person has been a financial boon to this game, of course the other company that's having issues, certainly didn't help with his or anyone else's decisions when looking to FFXIV.

Vulgar mouth is all it really is from what I've seen. Things like 'go big dick' and such things being part of the 'Asmongold' persona. Apparently some internal Blizzard folks take issue with him because of such terms.I want to follow this up a bit and give my perspective. Personally I've watched quite a lot of Asmon's streams since he started playing FFXIV and I legitimately do not get why so many loathe the guy. I'll agree the streaming persona can get a little tiring to endure, but I've not seen anything that warrants hatred directed at him. Must admit it's nice to see him stream as just.. well, himself on his secondary Twitch account though, it gives a clear contrast between when his persona is 'on' and when it's 'off'.
