I guess I don't see why its all of a sudden "not fun" to you because of these player people. You seem like your mad because you cant strut your musical talent.

To be honest, performance is my content. I've stopped raiding, I've stopped trying to gear up and play alts, I don't care to explore or anything, I'm very very much invested into performance. I basically login to ffxiv, to play with the performance system. That is 90% of what I spend my time doing in-game. Probably even at unhealthy amounts for how much time I do dedicate to learning new songs. I even have friends that have stopped asking me to do roulettes, level up characters, raid, and such because I was too busy learning to play with the performance system.

I do strive to keep improving because it is important to me. It's what makes me happy at the end of the day. It's not so much as if I'm mad that third party users "exist" when it comes to performance. I get mad when someone out of random walks up to me while I perform, and they want to join in and is basically:

    >Presses the play button
"You hear that? Yeah I did that mate, I'm so good!"

That is what drives me mental.

I know a lot of people in this thread is like "You can't prove they are using macros unless...", Come on... Let's be real, it's PAINFULLY obvious. And when I do mention something, I do not accuse them of using macros, even though I know they are. I just simply state "I don't use macros". and 99% of the time it's the same response of them admitting that they are using macros, and there was this 1% where someone told me they don't either, but hooked up a midi keyboard (piano), instead, which like I said, I would be more okay with.

To some, your "content" or "progression", is raiding, or getting your crafters on, and etc.

To me it's performance. I'm very much invested in it. That's my drive to play the game, so yes, It does kill my fun when someone can "cheat" to do it better.

Its great that you find purpose in performing , but I must ask.

How do you play the notes? There is only so much quality your musical skill can take you using the windows mouse/keyboard combo or usb connected joypad.

I do not know if this game allows 3rd party equipment to be plugged in, recognised , and used as an alternative such as a musical keyboard .

As much as I appreciate the efforts many performers go to playing , using the default control methods much music sounds , without sounding mean , quite awful . That isnt just because the performer is untalented, they are trying to play music with a befuddle control system compared to a real electronic KYBD/music device

3rd party software allows some to play much nicer, timed music. It allows for some mega concerts from dedicated troupes to be played too as i linked in my first post in this thread

Lets say you can use real musical equipment to play through this game . If you are truly talented musician look perhaps to streaming your performances . People would certainly appreciate it if you gain a following for doing such especially if you post your recordings here

I use the default keyboard setup on performance, with no hotkey bindings or anything like that. Just the basic qwertyui and numbers, 1-2 4-5-6, while using ctrl to go down an octave, and shift to go up an octave.

It's not super comfy, but it's how I learned how to use the system and just really stubborn as to wanting to switch it out any.

And trust me, I'd like to, but I know the rules are strict on songs, though I have seen the songbringer's community stream their "band" live with a bunch songs. Including some copyrighted, and some that aren't. They haven't been banned or anything, but also I'm sure they don't risk any of their actual accounts? I don't know. I wouldn't want to make a 2nd account just for performing.

Not to mention the DMCA take downs with Twitch over stupid reasons.

Just gonna regurgitate what everyone else is saying:

If you love something, do it for the love of it. What other people do, should not affect your life in the slightest when it comes to something you're doing for "love" or "passion".

Here's the hard truth: Your opinion on barding WILL NOT affect anyone else or how people play their game. You should follow suit and play the content you enjoy for the enjoyment of it. If you're focusing on what other people are doing, you're turning it into something that isn't "for the love" anymore.

Perhaps have a talk with yourself and figure out whether you're barding for the love of music or so you can be considered "better" than anyone else just because you play manually and get tips and head pats.
