Really? OK, I'll put it to you plainly.

@Authority figure: "If Billy gets a PlayStation, I want a new dirt bike!"

That's basically it, in a nutshell. People see others getting what they want - nay, merely asking for something they want - and it triggers what I'll call the "dirt bike" effect. This is the extreme low end of it, where people merely shoe-horn their desires into the discussion. The extreme other end of this effect is where people massacre each other for a discounted TV on black Friday.

It's all about watching someone else get attention or get what they want, and you yourself getting no attention or not getting what you want. Standing mute in that situation, or supporting the other person, isn't something everyone has the capability to do.

In regards to that, the reason is that the devs themselves constantly say they lack the resources to satisfy many a demand, with the implication being, these demands are competing for their resources/time...

And of course paying customers are going to try push for their requests ahead of others.

Especially requests in the benefit of something that barely gets attention and will benefit many players, vs something that will benefit a small niche audience and use up more resources.

It's not very hard to make a male version of female outfits though. Just turn them into generic jackets and pants or coats and pants. They already do that with a majority of seasonal outfits they could stand to make a profit and do that with npc outfits.

I'm sure people that play male characters would buy a male version of the Sorceress attire even if it just looked like a generic fur-line collared tattered tailcoat suit with dress pants and generic dress shoes. And Ryne's male outfit being a generic long or short coat, like Snow's, with the ribbons removed and short shorts turned into generic pants and the longboots into generic below-the-knee boots, like the rebel boots. But for things like Lyse's Scion Liberator outfit that is quite literally already in the game for guy's in the form of the Fireglass vest, so there is hardly a reason for that to be genderlocked, just give them pants instead of those short shorts. GW2 does it with their NPCs. Female NPC outfits are turned into jackets, coats or shirts for males and Male NPC outfits are usually unaltered, unless it's shirtless then a bra is added, or turned into dresses or skirts for females.

I don’t think there’s many people that want an opposite gender version of some glams though. Like personally, i would just want male npc glams equivalent to what female characters got with ryne and yshtola. There’s numerous npcs they can choose from but for some reason they’ve always been picky when it comes to the males. The only one i can think of off the top of my head that we got is Hien’s attire and sb thancred, not counting the veteran rewards ones.

Because there are very few male NPCs with unique outfits, left, that aren't palette swaps of dungeon, vendor or job gear. The only male NPCs I can think of with totally unique outfits are Emet, Graha, Zenos, Valens and Ilberd and four of those NPCs are antagonist and two of them wear robes which I doubt most male players would actually want to buy, let alone use on a regular basis. And I also doubt they'll start making or selling antagonist's outfits, because they haven't done so so far, on the mogstation so that's four of those five down. So unless they start selling antagonist's outfits males only have Graha's outfit left because I cannot think of any other male NPC, that isn't an antagonist, that has a unique outfit.

If someone could compile a list of unique male NPC outfits, that are not antagonists, because to my knowledge none have been made or sold on the mogstation, I would be grateful.

Well tbh, SE shouldn’t disqualify antagonists. They already gave out edda’s outfit did they not? It’s pretty unfair that they continue to give the female protagonist npc’s new unique outfits whilst giving the male ones generic outfits. Seems like yet again another strike for the female favoritism scoreboard. But i’m sure there’s bound to be many people who play female characters that will disagree with me.

technically varis and zenos aren't classified ingame as npcs in the same way that you, emet, graha tia are. they are "demihumans" (think like monster npc models, beast tribes, that kind of thing)

Ramza played a big part in the Return to Ivalice story but didn't get a unique outfit. His sister Alma, however, did - and that was then sold on the Mog Station.

At the end the day, it's typically the antagonists who get unique outfits. Some male protagonists do as well, though they often come with major flaws. Hien's outfit has stretched textures and lacks his hairstyle/stubble which was a common request when people pushed for it - at least over here in the English speaking forum.

Edda's outfit was added to the Mog Station, as was the Heaven's Ward sets used by the Twelve Knights. So there isn't really an excuse for not adding antagonist glamour at this point, especially when it's a common request.

Wasn't Ramza's outfit given out as raid gear, though?

Also, both genders of NPC costumes have been missing hairstyles for a while now. (And I don't think beards can be attached to hairstyles - they probably wouldn't move.)
