I'm really curious about how many players will be moving to Masamune from my own server and other servers.

Like here if your moving to Masamune!
Masamune will become the new Selbina I think so I won't be going there.
I'm going to guess it will be the first server to pop up.
Personally been waiting for the name-change service to appear as I want to change my last name at some point, I kind of just threw it in there to make sure I didn't lose my first name to someone else.

Probably better to ask in both the Gysahl forums and Wutai forums.
Sense they are being merged you can get a good idea for the kinds of people that will play that server.
Obviously not everyone is staying on their current servers and will apply to transfer to a new world...but still.

I could imagine either Masamune or Gungnir will become the new Selbina, Ridell can be in that mix as well, for the people who played FFXI, Gungnir is a huge weapon in the FF games, and for alot of people offers as much nostalgia as there can be from weapons.

I'm sorry... what do you mean the new Selbina? What was wrong with Selbina and why is Gysahl x Wutai going to be them? It makes no sense.

Because Selbina currently has the highest population, they are thinking Masamune will become the new highest population server, making it the "new Selbina".
The reason that Selbina is currently the highest population server, is that fmr. FFXI players make up probably the largest portion of current active subscribers to this game. Selbina was the server name most familiar to them, and so will be Ridill.
So Ridill will be the "new Selbina". Until 2.0 comes out and is successful at attracting the other types of FFXIV players back in larger numbers at least I wouldn't expect that to change. At which point Selbina will be what it was at launch, one high population server among many only with a much larger proportion of FFXI fans.
