Cruel and Unusual Punishment

Banned for 20 days for having inappropriately named retainers and an FC named "Cosby Klan". I pay to play this game. This is my first offense as a sprout. I was told there was nothing they could do because the 2 retainers and FC name change caused a pile up of reports and I couldn't be given a lighter punishment and that I wouldn't be given any kind of leniency. I don't want a slap on the wrist. Like. I just want a reasonable punishment for what I did wrong. Force me to change the names and 3-5 day ban. You are taking away 2/3 of my paid subscription for the month for a first offense name violation. The GM I spoke with was not helpful at all. Just repeating copy paste dialog rather than trying to actually talk with me and understand my point of view. Force closed the encounter when I was still trying to talk with them and figure out what I could do to prevent bans in the future. This is complete ass.

posting here isn’t going to help. go into support and try to appeal the ban if you honestly think it’s unfair.

All I will say is never never use the name of a sex offender,murder,terrorist,etc As a name for anything in a MMO. You basically asked the community to report you up the wazoo. Using that name now on a new account it goes without question that in the gm's eyes it looked you are/were trying to offend people.

Yet people run around with names referencing people like Epstein, Bin Laden, Stalin, General Lee. 20 days is excessive. All I wanted was a fair review of the context of the situation, everything that happened, and the fact that it was my first offense without prior warnings or being told to change the name(s). If I am not told to change something, of course reports are going to just keep piling up. Nobody in the game complained to me directly and said it was offensive to them and I wasn't told by a GM to change it until I was jailed and handed my 20 day suspension.

you could name yourself whatever you wanted, but until someone reports on you, you technically "get away with it". GM's have the discretion to give you what they deem appropriate based on the situation. Just because no one said anything to your face before getting jailed doesn't mean anything.

You got fairly reviewed and you got the punishment accordingly.

I would watch your future conduct closely lest you want to get perma-banned.

Very true I remember Mizteq's Fc had a tank name Hugjazz. He had that name for the longest time before someone finally reported him and he had to change it.

Just out of curiousity, how then, OP, did you imagine this all would turn out? That people would just, ya know, live and let live with your ToS breaking stuff naming? And would suddenly begin performing to your standards when you insulted them a little(; I saw the first thread about this)?

I expected to be told to change my name if there was any issue with it. Which I would have gladly done, and would have taken a 24-72 hour suspension with if if they really deemed it fit. My point is 20 days for something like this on a first offense is extreme. If you read the other thread completely you would have context instead of just talking and thinking I am saying I should not be banned. Yes I deserve to be punished, not I shouldn't be banned for 20 days on a first offense.

depending on how inappropriate the retainer names were, its hard to say.

since we do not know all the details, or your conversation with the GM, all we can do is speculate

as a heads up, posting multiple threads on it may gift you with a forum ban as well.
