Why Does It Feel Like Poor Play Is Acceptable (I'm Venting.)

In someways I hope the new influx of players from "other MMOs" helps remedy this problem. From what I understand there is a different mentality when it comes to group content there. I just hope that the poor play demonstrated by a large portion of our current player base doesn't scare them away, or rub off on them.

The healer ended up rage quitting.

I swapped to Topaz and did the tanking and we never got a replacement healer, so I was using Physick to heal carby while the other dps and tank were essentially the dps...

This is something that can only have happened at least 4 years ago. Try it now as an arcanist and watch as you take damage, because you haven't been able to tank anything with a topaz carbuncle since Heavensward ended.

To be fair and obvious, its the tech age. If you managed to run a PC, install the game, and create a profile, you can look up YT vids and or rotations online...search engines are your friend.

They can be your enemy as well.

Be very aware that you may have to dig much deeper or wider to find anything useful, since many of the sites that find their way into search engines haven't been updated since Heavensward.

This site: https://saltedxiv.com/guides/brd at least has been updated since the turn of the year. Might be a good place to look if you're new. Almost no site (this one included) will help much with anything except an end-game rotation.

I most certainly hope the "poor play," as you call it, scares away the toxic, sweaty WoW parsers and helps preserve our (overall) welcoming community.

Unfortunately you don't have a one stop site like Icy Veins and instead need to sift through a bunch of outdated info. Youtube videos are full of slang and acronyms that new players don't understand. The only youtuber I can find that seems to be up to date for new players has a voice that is nails on a chalkboard to me. Can't remember the name. That was after almost giving up because youtube thinks I want to see player reactions to what some streamer thinks of playing this game. I don't
