I did a Titania normal the other day and we had someone with someone in 50/60 gear.
He couldn't survive a normal AOE.
I said something, got a weird response.
We wiped and I tried to vote kick, but instead I got attacked like I was in the wrong...
Trash will defend trash I guess, but its telling that people hold a hand above people like that, and the guy had several 80's ^^"

Nice attitude. I suspect there's more to this than a vote-kick request, since those are specifically anonymous.

Because scaling rewards based on performance worked out so well for Wildstar. I'd suggest giving that game a shot but it's dead and buried. Making the instances not worth running unless you ran them perfectly was a key factor that chased away a large chunk of their early population.

But if you want to control who you run DR with XIV has a feature called 'Party Finder' that lets you do that. Or you can continue to tilt against windmills.

I don't know wildstar, but I didn't suggest such a system in my post anyway and it's very saddening that people are so biased that they respond to threads without even reading them first.

I think that people should feel a little more compelled to use Lost Actions, but unfortunately most people are casual players. They return to the game, do the relic quests as efficiently as they can, don't understand Lost Actions or spend any time collecting them and jump right into DR and probably stop playing shortly after that.

That would be a good idea for DR, Castrum and Dalriada at least.

I just think that most of the content is far too easy.
    Especially older content.

If it was harder people would be forced to step up and adapt.
I've definitely noticed this past year an increase in people who have absolutely zero idea what they're doing even at max level.
I am talking about not knowing what positionals are and SAM players spamming Kaiten and not using the dot or only using the dot finisher.
I've even seen SAM players using the backstep, ranged and charge combo repeatedly over and over again as if that's their rotation.

If someone just isn't very good I normally don't say anything, but when someone is on that level I normally suggest to them that they shoud look up a guide and that the balance Discord is really good ( in a very friendly manner, I try not to make them feel shamed ).
I've had people all smiley faced lie to my face that they have when it's very clear to anyone that they haven't.
I definitely think that some people are just playing it as a singleplayer game and give no effort at all.

I think there has been an uptick in boosters too and it's very obvious, this game doesn't lend itself well at all to boosting especially with new players.
It's glaringly obvious when someone haven't even read their abilities and doesn't know what they do and don't understand basic systems in the game.
And you still see them in endgame content.

Maybe harder content would make things worse sometimes, but I also think that these types of players can get away with it because of how easy it is.
If they couldn't play that way and still do the content they'd no longer be able to do what multiple players have done to me before and lie to my face about how they've looked up guides and know how to play.
I think that if someone is on that level where they do the backstep combo etc then there should be actual consequences.

How would the system know why the player's numbers were what they were?

What if they are a new player who kept dying to mechanics because they learn things slower than most?

What if they kept dying because others players kept messing up mechanics which in turn got them killed?

What about healers? If it's DPS based, if players make enough mistakes where the healer has to heal a lot, then the healer that's working their butt off to make sure everyone stays alive gets squat because they didn't do enough DPS to get above the number. If they make it heal based, what if they get grouped with a good group and don't have to heal all that often?

What about tanks? What if there are 2 tanks? How does the off tank gain participation? He'll not have the numbers for DPS. He won't be holding enmity for that?

The problem with a merit based system in a multiplayer game is how one player's total performance is influenced by the other players' total performance, even moreso when it's a group of randoms in a random class configuration.

So if it is all DPS, the players missing mechanics, even if it's because they are new, get healers mad because they are making their chance at rewards drop each time they have to use a heal to heal avoidable damage. Or the healer will just let those players die and stay dead because healing or resurrecting them will jeopardize their ability to get a reward.

Ofc you would suspect something more, thats exactly what I mean with that statement ^^
He kept dying to everything, because he didn't have the hp/defence to survive it..
I said something about it, politely even, but in the end he got his carry

I mean, you can speak about something one way on the forums and another ingame.
I usually sound way harsher on the forums because I am not directly speaking to the person in question, but if I am speaking directly to them then I adapt my words to try and not upset them or make them feel like I am trying to shame them.
But if I am speaking on the forums and I am not naming names etc I'll be more blunt about it.

I don't think it's indicative of you being an ass ingame or anything.

They should add phase check tbh or time out for players who lied about there experience. Because, I did pf's with pugs for a diamond ex clear party with a explication "see enrage please". During my encounters, ive met a lot time wasters. In conclusion, don't be a jerk and make pf to learn whatever phase you are.
