The Empty and the Primals' Arenas from Eden

From the MSQ and the intro to the Eden raid, we're left with the impression that The Empty is a giant white desert. As we go to fight the re-imagined by the WoL Primals, we clearly travel to other places which don't seem to be as corrupted or destroyed by the light as others. How did the Atlas Peak (Titan Arena) not turn to dust for example? Why did the Trench we fought Leviathan in still have some corals? (implying at least some sort of life)

A little known fact about Primals is that they love to decorate, upon being summoned the first thing they will do is set about sprucing up their immediate surroundings with a thematically appropriate arena design.

Truthfully, I think those areas looked like that before the flood, and the influx of elementally aspected aether from the primal we create restores them to their original appearance somewhat. Essentially a small localized version of what we're intending to do to the entire Empty.

Nearly every primal from Thordan onward (and some other powerful enemies like Ruby and Emerald Weapon) can manipulate their surroundings for seemingly no purpose except to make a cooler battlefield. They change back after the primal is dispersed. Some just take longer than others.

At this point I just figure it's the equivalent of a Reality Marble. They have enough aether to create a time/space bubble they have full control over.
