Now I want an olympics type event in the game, thanks. xD

That would've been great but it had no chance of appearing, as it was an English only song. The Japanese OP was completely different. The English OP is famous in America but I'm not sure it is anywhere near as much in Japan. One of the most famous Japanese anime songs in the history of ever is Butterfly, the Japanese OP of Digimon Adventure, but nobody in the West has ever heard of it (again, the West got a different song, to the aggravation of many parents).
From my limited understanding, they don't think it's special. It's just good music. It's the West that always had this sort of inferiority complex about video games. "Shadow of the Colossus will finally prove that video games are art!" and such. I don't think that's a big deal over there.

Yeah, I think it's more long the like of this. Mainly due to how deep their stuff are over there. For us in the west, we highly treasure it like it's a holy item. But for them, it's akin to falling over head over heels about the newest soap on TV, or infomercial. If you look into anime in Japan, it's basically like akin to the amount of reality shows we have. They kind of just shruge and watch what they enjoy and nothing more. From my limited understanding, they don't think it's special. It's just good music. Oh, I know. It's just interesting to me seeing them do this since we'd never see such a thing in just about any other country for this event. I like it, and I like how normal it is for them. I wish it could be like that everywhere else. From my limited understanding, they don't think it's special. It's just good music. Nah, from what I heard they would have love to but just couldnt get ahold of the rights to play Nintendo music, Nintendo being greedy with its goods yet again I suppose...

As great as that would be, the WoL would be basically barred from participating because.... how could they not dominate everyone else, they'd basically steamroll all competition.
Except maybe Zenos of course, because, well, you know...
As for the ceremony soundtrack, I was astounded hearing so much familar music, not just the FF Victory Fanfare and Final Fantasy (hearing Starlight Zone ~ Dreams Come True from the original Sonic the Hedgehog brought a smile, given it was infamously used as elevator muzac around the world for decades). But yeah, what a major coup for SE to have so many of their games featured in such a global event.
