Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

they are still more andro and delicate looking. (softer features - following asian beauty standards) compared to the pictures of the princes i‘ve posted before.
this is my rava face 4 i created some days ago, i even used the stronger jaw.


don‘t get me wrong - i absolutely love them! (future viera main here) but comparing them to disney princes, who were created with western beauty standards in mind doesn‘t add up (at least in my opinion - such things are often subjectiv as we know! )

Guess we will have to agree to disagree. The pictures I have seen of face four instantly take me to the human version of the beast and others. I think I have seen one single male viera that I thought looked more female than male according to western beauty standards. The rest look like young men to me. I hope you enjoy your bunny

TBH I'm 100% biased. I despise the basic Disney princes. The Princess and the Frog is top tier Disney movie, princess, swamp, prince, music, and all.

Face 4 can be quite feminine as well. My face 4 viera end up being quite fem boy zenos.
If I'm honest, male viera are almost how I expected female viera to look like, of course a touch more feminine.

These are purely my personal thoughts. Please no attac. Except for disney princes. Naveen I protecc.

I honestly dont care for disney characters :P I just dont get how people say male vieras are more female than female viera or that they look like girls. It is strange to me that they view their faces like females when to me they are quite clearly male. Especially since I play female viera and I find female viera to be very feminine. But it is what it is and I don't really care enought to keep on discussing it more, really.

Ah well on your last post of this topic, you did bring up a good point. Female viera are 150% feminine. It's near impossible to mistake female viera for male.
Male viera ? Sure, you can tell he's male. But he's not 150% masculine. Sometimes, I even have to double take ! That's where the disconnect comes in for me.

But I won't bother you anymore.

Same, my alt is going male viera so I am excited about it. I am stuck on the options on my main femviera: should I go max height or go a bit shorter since my husband will probably go max height male viera? Part of me like the idea of being taller than him, but he has been male miqote now for a while and I feel like a giant next to him (IRL I am alot shorter than him lol). I am changing her skincolour anyways (a bit darker than now) so was thinking about height at the same time.

I think it's because they're not like Hugh Jackman or Henry Cavill with stubble/ burly-ness type masculine.
It's more anime boy than 'manly' BUT I love the male Viera & the effort that was put into them-- it makes me more hopeful for female Hrothgar (and hopefully the SE design team will update the older races too)
I get it- Male Viera is not super "beast" looking or goes anywhere near a rugged looking beast race that people seem to have wanted for male Viera?
there's not much age variation among them- they all look in their early years basically. There isn't a "mature" face like male miqo'te have

BUT You don't need a big beard to look masculine
The jawlines in FFXIV are severely lacking, very thin & can come off more feminine in features or even Alien headed--- but just play around with the chin/ jaw because there is always a "broad" option that adds a certain detail to the character I think many players don't explore (much like people only ever choosing super pale characters with when there are so many options & combinations)

Isn't really a bother, just more a discussion I don't really see going anywhere. But yes. I think it might have to do with what we compare with and also with the concept of being masculine vs being a male. So I guess we agree, mostly. Except the viewing the body of male viera - they are very obviously male.

Which makes sense, given that Viera stop aging at around age of 20 according to Matsuno. Miqo'te mature face is closer to 40s-50s, and is usually used on NPCs of this age or slightly younger. A'aba Tia (2.0 Scion) was 35; X'rhun Tia (Red Mage story) is 42; H'raha Tia (Monk story) is/was 56. This indicates that SE treats Miqo'te face 2 as an option for characters that are at least well in their 30s or noticeably older, so having this type option simply wouldn't line up with a race that stops aging at an age that just reaches adulthood.

Not to say that having a more mature face would hurt (it wouldn't), but I can see why they didn't include it.

if you like your female viera tall, you should go for max height! the difference in height is not that apparent anyways - otherwise to be shorter than him you must pull the height below 50%. i kind of find it cute you guys are the reverse height of the real world. since canonically in xiv the males are shorter - your bf should even go min height imo to make the reversal worth it xD
