Hi Mates,

I came from WoW (with 2 other friends) and we are mainly PvP player. We started this game and like it so far but we miss some PvP in this game.

Is there a way that the Devs can implement a way to be able to duel? (like examine someone and request a duel with them).

Many PvPers in WoW had their best and most fun times while staying outside of the main city and dueling other Players. The dueling forged relationships and friendships and we would play the game for hours and hours.

This would be such a good move for FF14 so that more players would actually try this game and would play this a lot more.

FFXIV isn't PvP MMO
PvP content is just to look pretty => Glamour.
No matter how hard they try to attract PvP players, the reward is not worth the effort.

You should have gone to BDO or others.

There already is dueling in the game. You can unlock Wolves Den Pier from your GC commander in any of the starting towns, the quest is called A Pup No Longer. It will unlock Wolves Den Pier which has a dueling arena all the way on the east end of the map.

The pvp is fine, we have a small and dedicated community. Some of us has been pvping in this game for 7+ years, and I personally know players who play XIV exclusively for the pvp. If you don't like it that's fine but you don't know how many times I hear "Oh I was told the pvp was terrible and not worth it but I actually really love it" from new players that actually give it a shot.

You can only duel at the Wolves' Den Pier.

As for the modes, there are:

The Feast - 4v4 - Only active when a new season begin. Outside of seasons, there are some discord servers that organize community tournaments from time to time.
Frontline - 24v24v24 - Active during prime-time. You would be lucky to get a DF pop during other parts of the day.
Rival Wings - 24v24 - Only active when the Revival discord server is playing. Friday and/or Saturday evenings.

There will be a fourth mode coming with Endwalker, and if comments by Yoshi-P are anything to go by, it sounds like it will be 8v8 but with more objectives to do than just killing the other team.

Yeah unfortunately FF14 is really not quite there when it comes to PvP.
If PvP is your main focus, I don't think this will be the game for you :/

Unfortunately, PvP in FFXIV isn't designed about individual performance, which makes Duelling almost completely pointless. Only Dps vs Dps can be considered a fair matchup, since Tanks and Healers are unkillable in a Duel Scenario if played correctly.

Only way to 1v1 someone is to goto the Wolf's Den Pier and fight in the ring there. There's no other way to duel, though.

Dueling is done in the wolves den because in the real world abilities are not even remotely balanced and some jobs would get absolutely smoked hard by some abilities. Then you get the usual screaming on forums about classes being OP in situations that only apply to duels lol

Some devs have a fine line between PVE and PVP while FF14 has the Great Wall of China between the two.

It could be if they wanted to. There's no need to be stuck in the "this isn't a pvp mmo therefore the pvp doesn't have to be good" circular logic.

I haven't touched PvP in years so I wouldn't know. But I don't like the whole vs thing. From what I hear from others it's pretty awful.
