Don't know the streamer, didn't click the link and just read and from what I gather there's not much to discuss here that hasn't already been said.

A. Streamer boosted and skipped. Which is fine, but at that point you no longer have any position to make claims about the story. End of discussion. If it's not your thing then it's not your thing, but you get no place to comment regarding it's quality.

B. Streamer didn't learn the fights and healer meme'd. Walk the walk to earn the right to talk the talk. By the sounds of it he put forth no effort and expected to walk out with an easy clear.. he was wrong.

C. Streamer didn't learn his Job; Sam if I read right, which (IMO) is pretty straight forward to pickup and play, but takes bit of forethought to master. But again, by the sounds of it he didn't take the time to learn it, accompanied by the fact he didn't learn the fights.

So I'll ask, why are we talking about the guy? He didn't bother to learn the game and then tried to offer his takes on the game on his general lack of knowing. Why continue giving attention to someone that wants to act disingenuously?

I boosted this character but I also been playing this game for almost a decade so i'm pretty sure I know what i'm doing (or am I..hmm).

Funny video, I play a lot of PoE (Path of Exile) which is what he's known for and there he's the same but he actually does well enough there but when it comes to MMOs well, he claimed he's a multi rank 1 gladiator when he literally bought a carry and got boosted in Shadowlands for Sinful Gladiator mount + title. So I'm not surprised that he couldn't get past Delta Savage, but I hope people don't take his "experience" if I can even call it that at face value.

Aw.. That's a bit embarrassing lol. He definitely did that to himself and then took it out on the game. You would think someone who makes a living on games would realize some of the pitfalls of doing a thing like that, and then researched before hand or at least been expecting to be mopped on the ground, so that's also unfortunate.

Such like this though is why I think boost concept should be changed / augmented. Foreword I quite like the story, so don't take that angle with me lol, but in threads discussing the sheer length to catch up and the issue of desired entry vs actual entry I had suggested SE make alternate starting (doesn't drop one off at end game, but clearly farther in, and with a tighter cadence, like one might get some level 30 content right away, a few scenes later you might be boosted to 50 while you continue to learn, etc). An opportunity to get players into the game faster, like those who have previous mmo knowledge or just want something with a bit more octane / need help being invested before the slow burn disinvests them. Here you could over the course of 2 or so hours (maybe a bit more given some good story potential) quickly introduce combat, key characters, and a vague outline, and then push them into the MSQ with side quests to direct them to other neat features of the game (like heading to the golden saucer, or unlocking glamour). While, minus some of the really lull moments, enjoyed ARR, but I did have a few gripes (most seem to be corrected already), and generally think they 'could' make something more hook like (also starting in a main city I feel takes away potential a sense of progressive scale and adventure of discovering your first big city), I also see people viewing a recent expansion advertisement and going WOOOOWW and then hearing it'll take them about 350 hours to get to that point as potentially problematic (some are going to go "OH MY, for $20, $60, w.e, I get 350 hours of story?!?!" while others are going to be "I was interested in EW, I was not interested in ARR, if I was interested in ARR I would have already purchased ARR, no thanks I'm out". Also at this point I'd say I'm not for disconnecting the story from progression, like a dungeon, or what have you, just that I think inlets, highway on ramps, especially perhaps as we hit 7.0, is going to be a smart idea and in general worlds better than allowing players to just boost and flounder as this guy did.

Also given the New Game+ system, you could have these new starts be potentially side quests for current players too. Maybe put something behind them to make it enticing (and of course these would be tightly designed contents in general, so they would be some of the better examples of gameplay / story). So it's not really even slightly wasted resources, everyone gets new content, and those who needed it and shouldn't be using boosts or are not going to touch the game because they were presented "spend $40 + another $20-40" to get to the content you were actually trying to play or else play approximately 3 - 4 times the amount of time required to watch the entirety of friends in order to get where you wanted to be. Also I think then New Game+ comes around again as a smart system because once players are invested they can go invest that time in the history, leave some of the goodies in those quests as well so players are encouraged to go back once they're "sold" (like the fantasia).

Guided boost, imo, way better and should be done at some point. Straight up boosts should be reserved for existing players, not saying I'd restrict it I guess if I had the power to... just that I'd much rather someone be accelerated through by guidance than tossed at the end and pikachu face because it's throwing you to the wolves.

Also, him flaming the game and saying it is his best shot. Not that big of a deal to be honest. Like, maybe that was the best he was willing to put in. Like sometimes I wonder about this community that acts like someone saying something negative about the game, they take it serious. If you all saw that stuff people post on his twitter oooh boy.

So you get annoyed that someone is not fair to the game? Kinda silly thing to be annoyed about. Why does it matter? No offense, but the cult of FF14 is kinda weird and makes the community look bad when it can't just sit back and laugh at someone playing poorly and cries about game being bad. Instead they act like someone personal attacked them.


To me the community has a bigger ego than this guy.
