I literally only play FFXIV, the sims, and then a few mobile games on the side as brainless toilet games. I’ve no reason to play other games. I derive enough enjoyment out of FFXIV and other activities.

People used to have this thing called an "attention span."Something I never understood is how do people can ply the same game for very long periods of time or not pay attention to upcoming ones.
Gaming is all about technology, and I think new games constantly try to find new ways to impress the players. So, if someone is a gamer, not keeping up with new releases just seems like a waste to me.
I’ve seen a lot of FF XIV players grinding the dungeons over and over just to get an item or better stats… j honestly don’t understand this.
What about you? Do you keep up with new games? I’ve noticed it can be complicated for me to focus on two games at a time.
I do not. I only mainly play FFXIV.

I keep up with new releases and check if there are any upcoming games worth playing, but there just don't seem to be a lot of games coming out lately that get me excited.
It's mostly due to a lot of recent games purposefully cutting out content and reselling it as DLC.

FFXIV is the game I have put the most time in - regularly - for the past few years, but I do take frequent breaks, though I usually keep my sub going. Really it's my main game. I do play other games quite often, but I usually just play the same ones each time. Like the Elder Scrolls series, Fallout series (including 76 occasionally), Dragon Age, Total War series, a various assortment of single player RPGs (Piranha Bytes games, newer Assassin Creeds, Baldur's Gate, Pillars of Eternity, etc.), usually ESO yearly (keep up with story), various indie games, and some shooters occasionally. I don't buy AAA games that often - at least not at full price. I probably buy AA or indie games more often, if I'm buying games. I buy MAYBE 4(?) AAA games a year if it's a really good year for games. This year, I've already preordered Battlefield 2042, will preorder 'Total War: Warhammer 3'.
I don't think there are really any better mmorpgs currently than FFXIV, so if I'm going to put a lot of time into any of them it's going to be FFXIV. I also hate the cash shops in many other online games such as ESO, and dislike season passes even more - instead of being compelled to play these games (or buy my way through them) I just don't play them at all.

I don't know any FFXIV player who doesn't keep track with other games. Me and a few friends have gotten and played Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Tales of Vesperia, currently playing Mario Golf, etc. We're looking at Tales of Arise, Super Robot Wars 30 (WESTERN RELEASE CONFIRMED BABY!), LoZ: Skyward Sword, etc.

I keep up with new releases, but my list of games that I play is actually pretty short all things considered. I'm pretty picky when it comes to selecting a game to play. It's rare that I buy another game to play in a 3-4 month span. Even when I do it's on sale more often than not, and I have a big enough backlog to make sure I have something to occupy my time as a result.
