People used to let 2 least geared/powerful players man the cannon. They deal some good damage.
I don’t think we even need that nowadays lol. Heck a lot of my recent runs in that trial, people just omit firing the dragonkillers.
That is how it is done now, poke poke poke dargon go booooom. Which is umm, kinda sad actually because there are some neat mechanics in that fight. When my friends told me about it I informed them that they encountered a time traveler from 2015.
The cannons were manned for the majority of that fight by one healer and one dps. They did one tenth of the damage a single sprout dragoon in ironworks did... I used my special super powers to find that information and certainly no other easily installed resource *cough cough*.

I know it's been posted a million times already but tank aggro wars in alliance raids are just the darndest things, especially when you immediately rip it off them again a few seconds later by just doing your combo, like, what are you even doing?
Haven't you heard that Provoke is part of every standard tank rotation?
Jokes aside, for some reason I've been spotting that behavior a lot more lately. And even in Bozja content of all places. And no one speaks up or asks who wants/should be MT
Honestly I've been seeing so many sprouts doing it lately that I almost wonder if there is a guide somewhere out there that tells them to use Provoke on cooldown. Had one doing it the entire way through Praetorium, even when me being overgeared meant I'd just take it back almost immediately.
These aren’t so rare I wouldn’t even be surprised anymore. What surprises me is when they thought we were doing the same (provoking) to keep the aggro to ourselves.
Which reminds me to that DRn run I had few days ago for weekly & to help my friend. I came in with an intention to MT because this friend of mine groaned about their last run ended up being abandoned due to nobody queued in as a tank. Yeah sure buddy, I’ll be your guy. Ten mins of queue landed us with only two tanks out of 24 players, the other being a DRK. (Hey, a backup or two can’t be all bad~)
As per usual, before pulling the boss I wait for a moment to see if they want to MT or nah. No tank stance for like 10s after most of us is ready; I turned on mine and start pulling
A minute or two into encounter, the boss switches target to that DRK for few good GCDs before it promptly goes back to me for solid one or two minutes before same thing happened. Luckily nobody cleaved to death but when I look at the chatbox after first boss was dead, during mid encounter the DRK was requesting to MT because they want to proc their Banner of Honed Acuity.
They… could’ve just take initiative from beginning… but whatever. I just take it as my own ‘oopsie’ and let them have it.. but not for long.
They dropped dead: once vs Dahu for who knows what happened there; and twice vs queen’s guard at early quardple pull & again vs 2nd guard. At that point a few other DPS had already took the brunt of few tankbusters, that I just stopped turning off my tank stance and keep the enmity all to myself for the remainder of raid. Again they tried to provoke it hard but I didn’t let them have it again—not if they’re making casualties like that & coming in without essence with one of the most niche banner to utilize. No, just no.
After Phantom was history they started to display their displease in alliance chat all while mentioning Provoking—something that I only did to grab aggro when they drop dead to prevent casualties—… which didn’t instigate a favorable convo to them. At that point somebody in my party chats ”Lol just tank. They’re just very salty in general.“
The run itself wasn’t bad. A 29m run for a pug, that’s already pretty good, personally.
/smh
I recently had a very interesting tank in Pang...tongue&fingertwistername
Anyways, the party consisted of a DRK, AST and 2 BLM, one of which was me. In the first corridor, nothing too noteworthy. I pointed out that stupid castermob that people reasonably understandably tend to forget. I beckon the tank but nothing happens. Not so genious of me however to single it out to the point it quickly aggro'd me but meh, BLM have most awesome migitation anyways so whatever. Then the second castermob I decide to put a marker on it and the tank sees it and pulls everything towards it for nice melting away of HP.
First boss. Well uh.... Tank seems to be rather new as he did not know that he should go to the lightningrods to remove the aoe debuff. He uses tankpriveledge to stand IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ARENA with it the entire fight despite me telling in chat how it can be resolved and the other BLM and the AST doing it correctly. Tank dies and the BLM relatively quicly after because of the aggro but we clear.
Second corridor nothing reallly of note. Second boss we wipe. I have no idea what happened but I spotted the other BLM repeatedly not move to dodge the giant lasers and the tank just keeping the mobs in the middle of the arena. The second attempt I decided to just use food and tinctures and we killed this boss far more easily as people learned the mechs.
Third corridor went well and then Lunar Bae was up. DRK wrote 'Mana' in chat, which apparently is 'WoW speak' for wanting to recharge MP first. That done, tank pulled and I started slidecasting liek a baws (read: absolutely suck) but stayed alive for as far as possible while doing BLM things. The fight went alright, I think only 1 or 2 deaths. Boss almost dead and it is then that I actually bother glimpsing at chat: 6 messages of the tank demanding LB. I did just for lulz since like *sigh* it was already at like 1% when I noticed (non-RDM casters dont have LB brains) and I just like how the BLM LB looks.
Boss dead. Tank literally cursed LB not being executed on demand before leaving and I gave recomendation to the cardmaster AST for having to deal with that weirdo tank.
I believe you can survive the TB with just your 30% miti in that fight (provided you're not low on hp of course). You get stunned before he "cast" his TB tho, so you have to pop it earlier and can't pop it normally like other bosses during the cast. Alternatively, the ST can provoke after the MT get stunned.
B-but... Puppets Bunker is a current raid. What the actual FFFFFF? Obviously new to healer means 'I did not do role quests or attempt to visit a vendor.' This is why I heal alliance about 60% of the time.Had an interesting run in puppets bunker this weekend.
Our healers (whm and ast) both died quiet a lot.
The astro even said "Sorry new to healing. 50 levels of praetorium did not prepare me for this".
At the last boss i noticed that same astro had only 80k hp so i checked theire gear: weapon and some jewellery were only lv72.
So i asked them about it.
Me: "btw astro: your weapon is only lv72. Why?"
Astro: "because it is"
Nin: "ugh"
Me: "uh... hope to never see you again in df^^"
Whm: "hey mistakes happen"
Whm: "i once forgot my soulstone"
After we finished the astro wrote: "imagine inspecting or even caring for other peoples gear in a 2 year old raid. Nerd".
Some people ...
This tank just makes me sad. I was WHM in the Aery. Not only did I tank half of the mobs as the healer, he never uses any of his darkside skills (uses I can count on one hand, making bloodweapon kind of pointless). How... how do people get this far and not even understand everything they're doing is wrong.
The ONLY reason this worked out is because he single pulled (marginally undergeared) and I never got targeted for Sable by Nidhogg. Never uses provoke, barely does enough unleashes, no edge or flood of darkness, etc.
I think my favorite part is when he turned nidhogg around to cleave the party over and over, even when I told him otherwise to turn the boss around.
