My stance on etiquette still stands though. Why not benefit from both stances, especially if you're just both going to overwrite each other over and over? Its setting up bad behaviors with no explanation as to why they are bad. (Unless Diurnal regens stack now. Does someone know?)

No, they don't. And I'm guessing it won't be changed either if AST is moving to regen only in Endwalker. iirc there was something about splitting healer types in duty finder so that double shields and double regens won't occur. No idea though.

(Personally, I'm never going to have any sort of standards for level 50 content. There could be a whole myriad reasons from anything like old toon that never played a certain job before to just being tired and not paying attention. Majority of us in there just want our shiny token and any poor play will be hard pressed to mess that up. If they're pulling double sects and divination overwrites in end game content though, something will be said.)

Saw healers let their alliance tank die tanking Cloud of Darkness (0 heals), revive them, heal them to full, and then when the tank took back enmity, stopped healing them again. They just... dropped the ball, picked it back up, then immediately dropped it again. ?????

At which point I would like to point out to new ASTs, picking Noct can save you this trouble 90% of the time, because a lot seem to shy away from it for whatever reason. If I give the other one the time to pick, they'll almost always take Diurnal.

This is often true, but you need to make sure to pick fast, otherwise you'll get into a situation like I did where we both waited until the last second and then picked Noct.

It was a pretty funny first few fights, though.

Had an interesting run in puppets bunker this weekend.
Our healers (whm and ast) both died quiet a lot.
The astro even said "Sorry new to healing. 50 levels of praetorium did not prepare me for this ".
At the last boss i noticed that same astro had only 80k hp so i checked theire gear: weapon and some jewellery were only lv72.
So i asked them about it.

Me: "btw astro: your weapon is only lv72. Why?"
Astro: "because it is"
Nin: "ugh"
Me: "uh... hope to never see you again in df^^"
Whm: "hey mistakes happen"
Whm: "i once forgot my soulstone"

After we finished the astro wrote: "imagine inspecting or even caring for other peoples gear in a 2 year old raid. Nerd".

I've gone double Diurnal before, I suppose both us of were stubborn about not going Noct. It worked fine. Nothing in DF content hits hard enough to need to stack regens. Diurnal is a powerhouse and can pretty much solo heal and having another Diurnal on backup isn't a bad thing.

Sure, Noct/Diurnal makes more sense, but it really doesn't matter. If I'm playing AST in Normal content and my co-heal is AST I don't care, they can run the same sect, no sect, whatever they like.

On a side note: i cant remember but dont you have to do the shb rolequests to get gear from the fake gerolt?
Because according to the lodestone astro is theire only healer on 80 (aside from pld and 2 dps classes).
And considering they only leveled with mainstory roulette (as they said) i dont think they even did the healer quest and unlocked the job gear.

Or they were just trolling. We will never find out

I have a confession: him offering free gear went entirely over my head because I was so enraptured with the MSQ.

... So I bought HQ gear from the market board until I had enough tomestones for better ones. Not cheap, but roulette and MSQ had given me plenty enough gil. Maybe someone aught to tell that AST about the myriad of options this game provides you.

My quest to level tanks continue. Today's shoutouts go to:

1. The MT who pulled by... slowly walking backwards into the enemies. That was novel.

2. Got dropped into Fist of the Son, first time tanking this. I say, "isn't there a tank swap mechanic?" MT goes "nah". I think, oh, he's going to use his immunity and survive it. Apparently he forgot. Whoops!

3. The tank in Susan (normal) who let me catch the sword.

Learning to support w/ Intervention and confidence is slowly building.

Sooooo umm, something I found to be most unusual occurred with two of my friends. They seem to have most unusual luck with the duty finder, I swear.

They were finishing post arr and were excited to finally be free of it and into Heavensward, this means Steps of Faith. I was not there for the pre-nerfed version of this one but I am aware it hath been nerfed into oblivion. They enjoy experiencing fights without spoilers so they can learn as they play so I gave only one tip. This fight is ignore mechanics o'clock, just smack smack the bosses booty and kill the pesky ads until the big dargon falls. Two bright eyed yet weary dragoons step into the fray, their second time playing as level 50 dragoon ready to slay a dragon.

Nay! Said our tank with all level 80 jobs leveled up; "We need people on cannons. More people on cannons please. The guide you watched was wrong then." The guide was me.. so I felt kinda bad and begun doubting my advice. Did I mislead them? They actually almost wiped because the party of what I assume was mostly sprouts were attempting to do cannons and dragon slayers and not killing the boss. My friend chose to believe me.. she did three times the damage of anyone present and out deepsed the cannons by a factor of 100 times. She saved that run as a fresh new sprout by trusting her instincts. I am most proud!

Because they were curious her partner decided to join me with her level 50 dragoon in nothing but iron works to see how much damage alone she would do to the boss. By herself she almost killed it, I stayed in the back keeping the ads distracted while she poke poke poked away. Alone.. one level 50 dragoon in ilvl 130 gear can bring Vishap to roughly one third hp before he reaches the final gate with no cannons or dragon slayers used. I am sticking with what I knew to be true, it was nerfed into oblivion just mash your buttons for victory. If you enter this fight and chose to confuse new players or ruin their experience because you are a timelord, I suppose? Or you believe it is still 2015 please, please stop.

Both of them were sad leaving that. It was not the entrance into heavenward they disserved. I stand by my feelings, I may take break from this game. There is something wrong very very wrong with this community. It is nice on surface but catty and passive aggressive and worse when you dig deeper. Many thanks for reading my wall of words and letters, the whole thing made me upset because I told them the game was fun and got them playing.

I don't even know you can use cannons on that fight, WTF, lol. All fights I've been for that all just poke the big dragon till he's dead.
