My suspicion of Labyrinthos being intended as a shelter from the Final Days grows only deeper with the mention that it's also where Sharlayan keeps the bulk of its knowledge.

The red part of the garlean emblem symbolizes the blood of those who died in service of garlemald, This might be a bit of a stretch but it could almost be the origin of it's meaning via being symbolic of the reaper using the souls of the dead to reap vengeance. Not to mention reaper is used in the naming of their most iconic machina, the magitek reaper.

Reaper being straight up voidsent summoning is quite odd, summoning creatures from the void has always been a very solidly bad thing to do up till now.

I do find it funny we're getting this job from the same team that wouldn't let us play Thief because it didn't fit with the character of the WoL.

Maybe it’s supposed to represent character development for the WoL, like how HW gave us Dark Knight and ShB gave us opportunities to sass people. They might decide to let us have thief one day after all.

chances are he did as a way for Garleans to defend themselves during the early days settling in Garlemald before the Garlean Empire was established. Can't create a Empire if there is no one to help build it after all.

Looking at Reaper's 1st relic weapon for 6.0, we can see it still has strong Garlean design influence. It is possible Reapers may have acted as the early guards of the Garlean Empire as well since they were still working on developing their technology during the early years. You also can't remove such a influential organization from a civilization so suddenly since the Reapers were the first defenders of Garlemald's people and their actions allowed Garleans to survive long enough in the harsh environments to establish the Garlean Empire.

I suspect there is going to be some important lore involving the void and Voidsent we yet to know about. There has always been certain questions on my mind about how much the people on the 13th shard manage to maintain their original selves and how much has been twisted.

We know Diablolos may have always been the person he is even back before he became a Voidsent from what we had seen in the Void Ark Raid. However, the question always lingered on my mind about other voidsent that manage to keep their own minds or atleast most of it.

This makes me wonder if the Reapers still had a role in Garlemald before now, or if they realized what was going on with the Ascians and began to separate themselves from it. The lore for this class is going to be very interesting.

I'm speculating that part of themselves still exists in their forms and actions. If so, then our Voidsent following us may have been a soldier who lived their lives on the battlefield on the 13th, killing or else they'd be killed.

What if the voidsent we make a contract with is actually the fragment of ourselves from the 13th that got turned into a Voidsent.

That's a theory that has been going around since we first saw the Reaper reveal. No way to tell, but I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to use that as the level 90 job quest shocker.

The avatar being our thirteenth shard could work as a reveal at level 80/90 but it can't be a basic fact because the job isn't story-locked, so could be done long before the player knows anything about what the void really is.

There'd be some potential for variable dialogue to reference what we currently know, but it's unlikely to be central to the job concept.

I still feel wary about the whole concept of reaper and where they're going to take it, though. It feels very lore-twisting, like the decision was made elsewhere and the lore team just had to figure out how to not contradict past facts too badly, rather than a natural conclusion of something that should exist in the setting.
