Gambling is not always gambling. In a game where you don't lose real money it's not considered a problem. If we could bet crysta it would be a different thing though ;D
How about a nude mode for some european countries? (on my collectors edition it says SEX... WHERE???) xD
Isn't it like 6=nobody gets the princess, 12=the hero gets the princess, 16=the bad guy gets the princess, 18=everyone gets the princess?

Subscription game = card info = age verification. Just add a tick box that says 'I am paying for someone below 18 years of age' and you'll screen 75-80% of under age from accessing an age gated server - not saying it's a good idea just saying it's not impossible.

It'd be nice to have a Mature+RP server, but not going to happen (as some here demonstrated, they're too offended by it considering maturity is being able to tolerate the things most offensive to the self).

and besides what would be the difference from an RP server, and a Mature+RP server? Other then the obvious, in which this game does not need.

no, Crysta still has to be bought, it's a simple process as far as any online checkout is concerned to verify age as an item is payed for, they just need to flag the age of the purchaser against the amount of Crysta that person has in their database. Someone already has crysta banked? They wouldn't be the first site to require a small purchase or registered credit card information to prove age.

It wouldn't be perfect, no system is, I'm just saying it's possible - and I reiterate, I am not for the idea of an age restricted server I'm just pointing out it is possible from a technical standpoint.

I know that we're speaking hypothetically here so don't worry about that. I'm not for an age restricted server either, especially since I started XI around PS2 launch shortly after turning 13. I met some of my closest (online) friends through that game, and they pretty much watched me grow up over the past 7 years.
I still keep in contact with a good number of them, and I play XIV with quite a few of them today. Some are the same age as I am, some are a bit older in their late 20's/30's. None of that would be possible with silly things like an age-restricted server.

Though if they were to implement a mandatory card check system, that would be against the entire point of Crysta since you can either buy it online through SE, or at your local Gamestop/7-11/Rite-Aid, etc.

I have personally been doing the latter since it's easier to know how much cash I have on-hand during my lunch break than to remember/check how much extra money I have in my bank account at the end of the month for an automatic charge (via C&B or otherwise). That and in my opinion, the lower the number of online-based services holding my personal/card information, the better.

I actually did not know this, in Europe prepayed cards are not available for Crysta - or at least I don't believe they are as they're not available from Amazon or GAME in the UK and people in certain countries around Europe were unable to subscribe when payments started up again due to mismanagement of the crysta online purchasing system, a problem easily solved if they could go and buy a card.

I personally buy Crysta as a security measure, I buy a certain amount of Crysta and don't save my card information in an attempt to reduce risk if my account is compromised, as such it didn't cross my mind you could by cards from a game shop.

We don't have actual Crysta cards here, but pre-paid game cards distributed by UltimatePay. Though obviously I'm not sure if your side of the pond has this option or at least an equivalent.
