Why? That's basically punishing players twice. Not only do they not get the house but could be out 100M gil.



This defeats the entire purpose of making houses easier to get, assuming Ishgard releases with this lotto system. Instead of being to run to another plot if someone beats you there. You now cross your fingers on a single plot and if you don't get it, well, hope you enjoy waiting a good year or two for another shot. Why shouldn't people who have worked to build up a lot of gil have a chance to lotto on multiple houses?

Fairest way i see it. Just because you have more money shouldn't mean you get to game the system. First come first serve also restricts you to camping one plot anyway.

Different plots have different prices. Your suggestion means only the players with more money get to have a house since the highest plot price is 50 million gil. Everyone would need to be able to pay the highest price in case that's the plot they get awarded.

Trying to award a random plot would also only work the first day (or however long the lottery period is) of new ward additions. After that, it's extremely unlikely a ward would have more than one plot available.

Though this did sparked more questions - how long will the period to purchase a lottery ticket last? 24 hours? A week?

Will players be able to withdraw from the lottery to get a full refund if they decide they need that gil for something else?

They said random ward though, we don't know if person is assigned a random plot unless that information been translated?

If people are forced onto a plot that pretty crappy, especially the players who wants a medium or large for various reasons.
I'm/was excited to relocate my large to Ishgard but now i'm afrid I'd get stuck in a rng game instead of just go relocate.

My impression (though it comes from the unofficial translation as the Live Letter was in progress, a clearer translation might have been posted later) was that they were going to randomly assign wards as FCFS or lottery, adjusting the numbers of each type as they see demand for both types. I definitely would expect them to slightly weight ward numbers in favor of FCs since access to workshops and Grade 3 actions are locked behind house ownership.

This housing lottery system will assign wards to FFXIV players, but there will be requirements to participate.

So it might just be my interpretation but it sounds to me like you don't get to select which ward you want to sign up for.

I think that might be a misunderstanding by the person writing that article. According to the subreddit translators (they're usually pretty accurate since they also know the game) YoshiP said there would be wards assigned as FC or solo, not that they would be assigned to specific players.
