I can sum up your entire train wreck of a post with a good old WoW meme:Today when I logged into the game, I was assaulted with an avalanche of derogatory slurs in Limsa. People were making fun of a queer Twitter user who rightly pointed out that there are many toxic individuals joining this game. They started to make transphobic jokes like:
[14:59][censored]: um please respect my pronouns it's xe/xim/xer
[15:03][censored]: you can tell he has mental issues just by his twitter profile
[15:03][censored]: um hello respect their pronouns?? (this was said ironically)
I've also seen two incidents of the r-slur today. I've literally never seen this ableist slur used before July 2021. It's also no coincidence that a certain streamer also used the r-slur on his stream while streaming FF14.
Certain elements from hateful alt-right websites like 4chan have also infiltrated this game. Hate speech like "kek" have drastically increased in frequency.
I can only hope this is a temporary wave and these hateful figures will be gone when Endwalker arrives. This is the worst experience I ever had in Final Fantasy XIV and the ableism and transphobia is too much to bear. I'll be turning off my chat log until Endwalker for my own mental health and I encourage others to do the same. I salute the brave Warriors of Light who are actually reading all this radioactive toxic waste and reporting them to the GMs. I could never do the same.
I would say "we told you so" but I don't want to get death threats in my e-mail.
kek
It's weird how all of these "community is toxic" threads started flooding the forums right around the time that a certain streamer announced that he was going to play the game.
Probably a coincidence.
Just FYI, this is not true. I played Starcraft back in the day (way before WoW was released) and you could play online games even back then. As you probably know, Starcraft became a cultural phenomenon in Korea, and so there were a ton of really good Korean players. Because Starcraft did not support the Korean language in its earlier years, when players from that region would type the Korean equivalent of “hahaha” into the chat box in Hangul characters, it would show up as “kekeke.” Over time, this was shortened to “kek” and was used as an alternative way of saying “lol” within the Starcraft community. Because Starcraft was also a Blizzard game, I guess the company decided to use this term, which had developed within its own community, in a different game that they released years later - WoW."Kek" comes from World of Warcraft. When a horde player says "lol" in the /say or /yell-chat then it appears as "kek" to an alliance player. It seems that the author of this article has no clue.

Cheers
Anyway, even if some racists idiots have decided to use this term, that does not mean that it is now a “slur.” This to me is like the folks who are trying to push the agenda that making the “OK” sign with your hand is a symbol of white supremacy. These people need to find something better to do with their time and realize that just because some minuscule number of bad actors have adopted a widely used thing that has been around for decades does not all of a sudden make it “theirs” or inherently offensive.

Using the pronouns they want you to use costs you literally nothing and means a lot to them. So just do it.It is not a transphobic joke. The first and the third reply is a joke about trans people crossing other people's boundaries and demanding that they be treated differently, in alignment with what they think about themselves. Gender dysphoria is a personal problem that is made a public responsibility in some countries. Yes, it is not a mental illness but it can severely contribute to developing one.
At the end of the day it is no different than any other gesture of consideration that you might extend to strangers on a daily basis. I don't understand the ideological opposition to that, unless you have some insecurities yourself.
southern poverty law center. sounds like a biker gang made in the 1900s. dude kek isnt hate speech get over it go outside and take a breath of fresh airPlease educate yourself. "kek" is an alt-right dog whistle:

To be honest it is an annoyance I am going to refer to a stranger based around their physical appearance. It is just simpler that way for me, not much a people person so I try to limit my interactions in terms of time and frequency.Using the pronouns they want you to use costs you literally nothing and means a lot to them. So just do it.

People are too sensitive about pronouns. They are just there to fulfill a grammatical function, not to make people feel offended or out of place.Today when I logged into the game, I was assaulted with an avalanche of derogatory slurs in Limsa.
