    I vocal minority of players, allegedly in Japan, complained that the sound effects made them think it sounded like you were attacking the enemy with scissors. Problem is even if Square was going in good faith to address that, now it sounds like I'm hitting the enemy with a wiffle bat.

    Was saddest for me, the original sounds are still in the game. If you watch the job unlock trailer (so I've been told) you can hear the job trainer using the original gunbreaker sounds in his introduction cutscene.

    It wasn't even the JP. There was a thread asking for it changed on here as well. Back before it got changed there was an LLP where Yoshida addressed it and part of him didn't want to do it as it wasn't the first time the community asked for something to be changed only to make threads going "Oh my God change it back!" Or that they would have wanted a different sound.

    iirc the initial complaints were that explosions for cartridge attacks sounded weak. those got beefed up...but for some reason the blade sounds got changed as well, and here we are.

    Yeah I remember it a little bit here because they felt the sword didn't sound "heavy" enough, and remember reminding people that Squall wasn't the only gunblade user in the series; that it felt like they were modling things more off Lightning than Squall. But it's also fair that Yoshida and many other development staff put more weight into JP requests over global, and are often ignorant to the issues we bring up. So, it's fair to see how some people would say it was because of the minority of JP players that the sound effects were changed over global.
