I mean OP has a point. I’ve cleared ultimates and while fun I just don’t see how the devs justify the development time of this content. All it does is give people an ego boost with their Legend titles and shiny weapons, tbh i think if ultimates stay they should remove all rewards because 9 times out of 10 the toxic player has a Perfect Legend title and UWU weapon
Make the reward purely the clear, maybe a cool cutscene or something. It’ll drop participation even more but hey I think that’s a fair trade off of it prevents these shinies from getting to the raider’s heads

They already cut content to develop more midcore content. They cut dungeons back in stormblood to develop Eureka and BA. Same for SHB with Bozja. As someone who does not participate in ultimate, it does well for the game as it increases the streaming views on twitch.
Although I'm not sure if cuting Ultimate content would be the most suitable option considering this gives some motivation to know that a challenge awaits after savage content, I agree on the fact that there is a severe lack of midcore content.
Currently, I am quite happy with Bozja which is difficult and fun enough to get engaged into the game but it's bad that we needed to wait patches until we got to such midcore content. They have the solution to create midcore content or at least grindy options to engage the playerbase but for some reason they don't take this opportunity.
I have been playing since beta and I am casual player but I still like having some challenge or havings things to grind. Why don't they add some additional steps of the relic starting from X.1 patch instead of waiting one year to get started ? I would have been way more engaged in 5.1 and 5.2 if they required us to farm fates from SHB or if they found any kind of farming activity which people seem to ask for quite some time now....
What do you mean severe lack of midcore content? It's almost all there is, even savage is midcore content now, why do you think ultimates even became a thing? Because savage was made extremely easy.
I don't consider savage entirely midcore because Crystal data center has a <10% clear rate. On JP data centers the average is up to 30% of each server's population which in that sense could be seen as midcore, but NA/EU do not stack up to that on totality, only some hardcore raiding servers do where the population centered during the Gordias savage crash.
"you need to try harder than push a button to clear" things like Extreme, unreal primals, baldeson arsenal, and bozja duels and the like are midcore content.
I definitely want more midcore content, but not at the expense of hardcore content.
The solution isn't to cut content, but to hire new talent to support their very popular and growing game.
