Harassment to Asmongold on his 1st day stream is an Embarassment to FF Community

I did yet you said as if didn't break the ToS or there was some grey line to be discussed. Guy got reported accordingly, there was no abuse as you are trying to imply.

One thing I mass report someone because I don't like him or because he got something that I wanted that's abuse. Other thing is reporting someone for clearly breaking the ToS that you even admitted now.

I think he's a big enough boy to deal with it and hardly deserve sympathy.

Eh, this is like some '' pewdiepie getting robbed is fine cuz he rich '' energy.
Not saying that's literally what you're implying but I think there's this dehumanizing mentality going around that if someone is wealthy they don't deserve sympathy because money solves everything.
Which it doesn't, particularly not for Asmongold if you know anything about his life and how little money actually affects him and his lifestyle in the grand scheme of things.
And the pressure from his streaming and how people behave towards him and pressure him is something that he has talked about before that causes actual mental health issues and has forced him to take long breaks from streaming before.
Robin Williams being essentially the worlds funniest man and ultra rich didn't help him with his depression or stop him from committing suicide.

If we were talking about some douchebro influencer who basically makes a living off of bragging about how rich he/ she is and don't have any real problems in their life then maybe.
But I don't think that you deserve less sympathy just because you're wealthy when you have actual genuine problems.

Did he bring it on himself by deciding to stream and announcing when it would happen in advance?

Yes. He knows how his viewers behave. They will always show up, some just to say they were there and be shown on the stream, others to mess with him.

Does that mean it should have happened and he's not deserving of some sympathy? No.

What he does not deserve is special treatment just because he is a popular streamer and has money. He should be given the same consideration that any other player gets, which is SE is doing. They're in the process of issuing 7 days bans to those players who were identified as harassing him.

In a sad sort of way, this is turning out even better as publicity for FFXIV. Annie points out that if it had happened in WoW, Blizzard wouldn't have done anything to the players involved. SE is doing something. With luck, that's going to get most of those players to think twice before doing it again with Asmongold or any other player (there will always be those few pushing until they get a perma-ban).

1st of all who the hell is Asmongold.

2nd all of these settings with NPC can be changed also learning about the X key on the keyboard early on saved ass so much in new content.

3rd if this Asmongold is famous in some random circles, They live off the attention so it's all well and good.

I am extremely pleased to hear this. I have never liked Asmon, but what they did was beyond the pale. He and I disagree fundamentally on many levels, but I would never stoop to behaviour like that.

I just also wish people would stop this odd behavior of "omg a small handful of the entire games population is doing something bad, that must mean the ENTIRE community is responsible and is also doing it SMH be better everyone even those who did nothing wrong or are even unaware this is happening! You are still at fault!" Attitude that some have... like geez. Also I've seen many posts from people like you, who dont agree with him on things or dont even like him, but still dont think harassing him is okay to do. THOSE people are who we should focus on, not negative nacy's imho. Reward the good, ignore the bad... but thats wishful thinking on my part lol.

Now, I'm not gonna say that, but I do just wanna point out a couple things I heard very VERY often within the community.

All of WoW's community is toxic
None of FFXIV's community is toxic.

If there's any lesson I want learned from this, it's to stop pretending that there isn't toxic people in any setting of anything, and also to stop pretending that everyone in said setting is a problem because of a smaller group.

Like, for me, I get this is anecdotal evidence, but I wasn't encountering all these super toxic wow players while I'm in shadowlands. I played the race that "always gets harassed" on a spec that "is auto kick for non-meta" and didn't encounter these issues, and I shared server with a good chunk of the people saying that, the most toxic thing I think happened was when I, ME, was getting too heated in a raid team and made people not wanna come, and they told me it isn't cool. Sounds like a community to me that DOESN'T promote toxicity, let alone is made of a ton of them.

Yet on FFXIV, I've had quite a few cases occur, some really really nasty ones, and they sit. You have the simple easy to do and forget ones like telling me to go die in a ditch or get cancer, and then you got some of the more severe like calling me a groomer for my choice of race, or harassing people I like to not talk to me anymore. It's terrifying what people will do here, specially if they can do it off game, where anything certainly goes.

So, uh... I guess Tl;Dr of my rant is just: Not everyone's toxic, but let's stop pretending no one is either. gcbtw

I would bet real money the vast majority of these alleged stream stalkers are actually his own people just farming drama to boost his ratings/attention/stream revenue. That is the science of Twitch these days after all.

But the fact half the threads on the forum are "poor little streamer, that big bad FFXIV community done a boo" should clue any of the exceedingly cool people in this by and large mature and intelligent community that this is all a load of drama farming BS.

If it weren't then people would just report abuse in-game and let SE moderate their own game.
